You Didn't Understand When He Loved You

Chi Chulin knew full well that Lu Honggui's confession was nothing more than bait dressed up in finery, but he still bit down without hesitation.

He thought he was Lu Honggui's privately treasured butterfly koi, but in the end he realized he was merely the most inconspicuous clownfish in Lu Honggui's enormous pond.

It turned out that love could be a knife that dissolved the bones, a death warrant. At last, he had sunk into Lu Honggui's taming, unable to let go or break free.

After a long while, he reached for the hard liquor on the table beside him and downed it in one go. Pride flared in his eyes as he declared, "Then let's forget it."

I knew you were only pretending, yet I was perfectly willing to play along. Even after you had scraped my heart bare, I can finally spit out this poisoned bait. This person, this worthless love, has nothing to do with me anymore.

From then on, Fancheng was one clownfish short, while the Chi family gained a pampered young master, precious as gold and jade.

But Young Master Chi didn't know that on the day he left, Lu Honggui searched all of Fancheng in the pouring rain, but could no longer find his little koi.

The two met again at a banquet hosted by the Chi family.

Lu Honggui had been invited to take a seat as a representative of a competing company. He saw the person he had searched for like a madman being led into the banquet by Chi Yingwu, the head of the Chi family. Chi Yingwu introduced him: "This is our second treasure. Chulin, say hello to everyone."

Chi Chulin's calm gaze slid past Lu Honggui. It was a look of indifference Lu Honggui had never seen from him before. In Chi Chulin's eyes, Lu Honggui could no longer see even a trace of warmth. He lost his composure and stood up, wanting to embrace his beloved.

Chi Chulin took a step back, wary. "Mr. Lu, please behave yourself." The distance and reproach in his voice nearly shattered Lu Honggui.

Looking at the young master before him, Lu Honggui felt a fine, dense ache in his heart. At last, he understood that such a wonderful treasure would never belong to him again.

Lately, the biggest gossip among the people of Fancheng had to be about the Lu family's favored son.

The domineering, wayward Young Master Lu had somehow changed his ways and willingly lowered himself to work with the Chi family. Lu Honggui secured deals that the Chi family's eldest son couldn't close. He personally delivered scripts and resources for the shows Chi family's young lady wanted to join and the dramas she wanted to film. Even when Chi's father and mother went on vacation, Lu Honggui wanted to get involved and manage things for them.

Finally, one day, Chi Chulin couldn't take it anymore. He went to confront him. "Lu Honggui, what exactly are you trying to do?"

Lu Honggui had long grown accustomed to the other's sarcastic remarks. Even when Chi Chulin looked at him coldly, he felt content. After being stabbed with so many knives, he didn't even feel the pain anymore. He gave a derisive laugh. "What bad intentions could I possibly have? I just want you to look at me." His voice even sounded as though he were about to cry.

"Too late." Chi Chulin looked down at him with contempt as he teetered on the edge of madness, and said calmly, "Stop making a fool of yourself, will you?"

In the novel, the two protagonists were childhood friends who grew up and cultivated at Yunjing Monastery. As adults, they fell in love with each other. It should have been a beautiful love story, but because of the great villain Jiang Ning's interference, they both died tragically and met miserable ends.

Jiang Ning was a fox demon in the novel with the power to destroy heaven and earth. After the protagonist bottom once treated his injuries, Jiang Ning developed improper desires toward him. When rejected, he took him by force and killed the protagonist top. Unable to bear the humiliation, the protagonist bottom finally took his own life.

Wen Maomao breathed a sigh of relief and said confidently, "That's all? Piece of cake." As the Rabbit God, he was in charge of matchmaking. All he had to do was tie a red string for Jiang Ning before he met the protagonist bottom, and he could easily resolve the problem.

When Jiang Ning used the excuse of asking the protagonist bottom for help with a question to make an improper move, Wen Maomao burst in from the side. With his reddish almond-shaped eyes wide and innocent, he said, "He always ignores Senior Brother Jiang. Unlike me, I only know how to care about you, big brother."

When Jiang Ning attacked the protagonist top, Wen Maomao wept like pear blossoms in the rain and threw his arms around the frenzied fox demon. Looking pitiful, he said, "Senior Brother Jiang, you scared me. I'm frightened."

When the protagonist bottom suddenly began treating Jiang Ning kindly for some unknown reason, Wen Maomao's bright red eyes darted around as an idea came to him. He tugged lightly at Jiang Ning's cloak. "I'm pregnant. It's yours." After all, rabbits could pretend to be pregnant just by looking at the moon.

A glint of cunning passed through Jiang Ning's bewitching fox eyes. He seemed to have known all along. In a gentle voice, he said, "Then Maomao can come with me to the fox den and rest while you carry the baby."

A few months later.

Wen Maomao, now truly pregnant and about to give birth, finally came to his senses. As he pulled out Jiang Ning's fox fur to make a nest, he cursed, "Fox demons are so devious! What a scoundrel!"

He really was just a little white rabbit!!

The Spiritual Heart Finger at Yunjing Monastery was a magical treasure coveted by all demons because it could enhance their cultivation. Jiang Ning was no exception.

But the formation protecting Yunjing Monastery's forbidden grounds was too intricate to break. Only the monastery's closed-door disciples had access, so Jiang Ning pretended to be injured to deceive one of them, disguised himself, and entered the monastery, planning to steal the token and seize the treasure.

Jiang Ning had killed countless people, yet he couldn't bring himself to be ruthless toward this little green tea who kept interfering in every possible way. As he quietly watched Wen Maomao put on his melodramatic act, Jiang Ning's face filled with affection, and his heart melted into a pool of spring water.

Clueless little rabbit, don't wag that round little tail when you lie. You'll give yourself away.
