The Bluebird in the Cage

Bevny's been feeling a little annoyed lately.

In theory, she should be the most carefree young lady in the entire aristocratic circle of the imperial capital. Her parents hold important positions, her childhood friend wields great power, and her fiance is at the height of his fame. She could practically write "lie flat and coast through life in peace" across her face.

It all started when mysterious, unsigned letters began arriving in Bevny's private mailbox.

The writer's tone went from humble, tormented secret admirer in the first letter to casually showing off their romance and asking for her blessing in just two short months.

She suspected that her seemingly respectable fiance had recently charmed some naive young woman who'd just entered society, and if the girl had the nerve to parade it in front of her, the bastard was at least 99% to blame.

To keep herself from skewering her fiance and roasting him like a quail the next time one of the letters appeared on her dinner table, Bevny immediately packed her things and left this den of trouble.

Before leaving, she even picked up a job from her childhood friend so her departure would look perfectly legitimate.

Yay, freedom! I'm off to have fun!!
