Do you still remember the person you loved at eighteen?
Zhu Min and Jiang Yuguo have one answer in common, the only one:
I remember.
We held each other, kissed, were sweet together, and cherished each other tenderly.
We argued, broke up, grew distant, and said cruel things to each other.
But we still love each other deeply, and always will.
The person I loved at eighteen and I made a home together.
-
We tried to overturn who we used to be by making completely different choices. That only showed we had never let go.
*
Zhu Min knew that people couldn't easily sever their social ties. If nothing unexpected came up, she had to attend her high school class president's wedding.
But the moment she saw her ex-boyfriend, Jiang Yuguo, at the wedding, her heart still skipped two beats without warning.
*
At his childhood friend's wedding, Jiang Yuguo hadn't come alone. Beside him stood a woman with expertly applied makeup and striking light golden hair, completely different from Zhu Min, with her fresh, elegant style and long black hair.
Oh, so he has different tastes now, after all these years, Zhu Min thought.
All the guests were focused on the bride and groom. Only Jiang Yuguo downed the drink in his glass and shook his head. You heartless little thing. You won't even look at me.
*
Jiang Yuguo was the school's untouchable heartthrob and a famous figure. No one had expected him to get together with Zhu Min. When they broke up, everyone naturally assumed that she was the one who'd been dumped.
But no one expected that Zhu Min was the one who ended things.
Just as Jiang Yuguo was considering their future, she initiated the breakup she'd been planning for a long time.
Jiang Yuguo's Adam's apple bobbed. He seemed completely unfazed. "If we break up, don't regret it. If you do, it won't mean anything."
He'd always been high and mighty. There was no way he'd make the same mistake twice.
*
Eight years later, when they met again, he pinned her fiercely against the door, kissing her soft lips with a forceful, overwhelming passion. "Don't make a sound. You don't want 'him' to wake up, do you?"
Inside the room was Zhu Min's already-drunk "boyfriend."
Smack!
Her palm struck Jiang Yuguo hard across the cheek.
He wasn't angry in the slightest. If anything, he looked a little excited. He curled his lips into a faint smile, twisted her wrist behind her back, and pulled her against his chest. His voice was hoarse. "Slap me after I kiss you."
"Didn't you say you wouldn't make the same mistake twice?"
"For you, I'd do it willingly."
"Because I love you, and I'll love you forever."
You're the only thing I'm allergic to, and the life I found after surviving disaster.
For you, I'd willingly make the same mistake twice.

Blurb: Ming Zhao hates winter. It's no secret.
Ming Zhao fell for Yang Duanyue in winter and loved him for many, many years.
This is Ming Zhao's secret, hidden deep in her heart. Only she knows.
*
Ming Zhao met a boy during her class placement exam. He was very tall, wore a plain white T-shirt, and had a smile that was both unruly and gentle.
Ming Zhao didn't know his name, but she remembered exactly what he looked like.
After the exam, she was surprised to discover that he was her classmate, Yang Duanyue.
Yang Duanyue was a well-known figure at school, with countless admirers.
In high school, Ming Zhao dressed plainly and was the least noticeable of them all.
Even though they were in the same class, when Yang Duanyue thought of her, the first thing that came to mind wasn't her name, but "the Chinese class representative in our class."
Over their three years of high school, their few interactions involved collecting and handing out Chinese homework, or the teacher reading one of her essays aloud to the class.
Walking past his seat to collect homework was the happiest part of Ming Zhao's high school years.
That happiness ended abruptly when they graduated.
After that, they went their separate ways, to distant mountains and seas, north and south.
*
After the college entrance exams, the class had a party and played Truth or Dare. Ming Zhao was picked, and a classmate asked her, "Is there someone you like?"
A pair of clear, bright eyes appeared in Ming Zhao's mind, but she shook her head. "No."
She always used words that contradicted her true feelings to hide the nervous flutter in her heart.
On Yang Duanyue's yearbook page, Ming Zhao wrote, "Wishing you a brilliant future."
That would be the last time they crossed paths.
But Ming Zhao never imagined that years later, she would hear Yang Duanyue say:
"You are my brilliant future."

He was the bright moon in the sky. She never hoped to claim the moon for herself. A single shaft of moonlight was enough to comfort her for half a lifetime.
By some grace of fate, the moon fell into her arms.
