Ji Chen is reborn at the age of seventeen, but his memories of the past have all but faded. He has a whole new life, where he finds a little beggar and lives an ordinary existence.
The sweet, naive little beggar can cook and work, and is very good at reading the room.
Ji Chen reaches out, and he hands him a bowl.
Ji Chen finishes school, and he does the chores.
Ji Chen goes on an outing, and he tags along.
But the little beggar, Luo Jin, is still afraid of being abandoned and lives in constant anxiety.
Ji Chen lectures him: “You mustn't lie.”
Luo Jin retorts: “You just don't want me anymore!”
Ji Chen: “...” This little brat is getting out of hand.
Their grievances pile up until the eve of the college entrance exams. After a long cold war, Ji Chen can only leave without saying goodbye.
Three years later, Luo Jin gets into the same university and follows him there like a piece of chewing gum stuck to his shoe.
They put all their past bickering behind them, and Ji Chen thinks Luo Jin has finally grown up.
Ji Chen is back to having his clothes handed to him and his meals served.
Luo Jin meets him after work, cooks when they get home, and can do everything from sweeping and laundry to changing light bulbs. He plays games with Ji Chen, goes jogging with him, and even gives him a good scrub in the bath.
Ji Chen: “Why are you blushing just because you're scrubbing my back?”
Luo Jin: “The bathroom... is too hot.”
Ji Chen is living his life just fine, yet the people around him are getting stranger and stranger.
Some people say they have both died once before.
Some people say that his little brother can't be trusted.
Ji Chen begins to suspect that there is something wrong with his mind.
However, it seems someone else is the one who's really acting strange.
Faced with someone who wavers and whom he can't hold on to, Luo Jin begins to lose his mind.
“Ge, I just want you to love me too.”
Ji Chen: This is bad. I've ruined this kid.
Obsessive, beautiful, scheming, unhinged younger seme × world-weary, easygoing, good-for-nothing uke
PS: Both characters are reborn. The first part takes place at school, with a little suspense in the later part.
Synopsis for Kidnapped and Forced to Cultivate in a Run-Down Sect:
Chi Jing doesn't want to live anymore, but by a twist of fate, he is saved by a Taoist priest.
He thinks his chance at immortality has finally arrived, until he sees the decrepit sect, where even the gate has been stolen...
He thinks he might as well have died.
What's more, he's clearly not the only child this old geezer has dragged up the mountain...
One kid is rolling on the ground, crying and wailing, a little snot-nosed brat.
Another is happily fighting crickets by himself, a real blockhead.
By the stone table, one kid is absorbed in reading a bamboo scroll, a bookworm.
Immortal aura? Secluded lodgings? Strict rules? Swordsmanship... never mind.
Chi Jing thinks that unless his newly acquired master is blind and heartless, the only skills he can teach are scamming, cheating, and conning children.
The white-bearded old Taoist who brought him up the mountain beams with pride. “These are your four senior brothers.”
But there are clearly only three. Where did the fourth come from?
Chi Jing sneers, “Our sect's invisibility technique really is profound.”
“Master, he's being insolent.” The fourth person jumps down from a tree.
Chi Jing frowns. Who is this?
The white-clad youth across from him grins maliciously. “Our sect has a rule for joining: you must be able to breathe fire, swallow a sword, or break a stone on your chest before you can swear your oath.”
“...” Chi Jing rolls his eyes.
There's another bastard here, after all.
The bastard deliberately makes things difficult for him, and Chi Jing is forced to swear:
“I ask not to be born on the same day or in the same month or year, but only to enter the Yellow Springs on the same day and at the same time.”
The bastard smiles. “Good junior brother. Be good.”

At first, he thinks that in a run-down sect like this, what kind of immortal path could he possibly cultivate?
He never expects that, in this vast world of mortals, he will remain trapped for so long by those words spoken in jest...
