Damn It! She Totally Showed Me Up [Infinite]

[My new story, She Was Born to Win [Infinite], is now underway. If you're interested, feel free to take a look!] [The logic and settings were revised multiple times along the way, so many parts differ greatly from pirated versions. Please read the official version on Jinjiang.] [I recommend subscribing chapter by chapter. Be sure to read the warnings.] Story blurb>> . Pollution spreads across the globe, and horror begins to return. A spiritualist organization establishes the Supernatural Administration and recruits spiritualists to deal with the paranormal incidents erupting across the country. Jiang Yan was a thousand-year-old wedding gown in the National Museum. Her power was seeing through other people’s desires. Then, one day, an old man suddenly came to see her and asked her to join the Supernatural Administration through the glass display case. Jiang Yan: “But I can’t communicate with spirits.” The other party: “I’ll help you take human form.” Jiang Yan: “Now I can.” * As the Supernatural Administration’s first spiritualist competition show, Red Pillow’s opening mission was an ancient village in the mountains. Jiang Yan was the only newcomer. The moment she appeared, the livestream viewers mocked her for dressing so flamboyantly. But while everyone else trembled in fear Jiang Yan stroked the dog that had suddenly appeared beneath her bed in the middle of the night, strangled a recurring nightmare, pulled a human face out of a silkworm cocoon, and pieced together the clues behind it all to smoothly deduce the truth. Everyone else: ? * As the resurgence of horror deepened, the Infinite subworlds finally arrived. The most difficult instance was rated 3S. Not a single spiritualist who entered had survived. With no other choice, the whole Administration voted on which top team would be sent into the deadly instance next. Jiang Yan was given the mission at a critical moment and led her team into the instance. The instance was fraught with danger. The spiritualists waiting at the Administration had already prepared themselves for the entire team to perish. Restless and anxious, they stared into the distance, filled with regret and guilt. After a long wait, five figures appeared on the horizon in the light of dawn. “We did it again.” Jiang Yan shrugged. “Is there really no more challenging instance in the country?” Everyone: What a show-off. Everyone: Show off some more, we love it, sob. //She sees through the desires of all living things, yet she is willing to save them. [Very detailed warnings] ◆ This is an entertainment-focused web novel, not a story with a moral message. ◆ The heroine is a monster, not human. At the start, she has only just entered human society. She’s somewhat polite, but not very, and she doesn’t have much of a moral compass. She has little empathy early on. ◆ This is not an Infinite story from the beginning. The early portion is a series of supernatural episodes; later, horror returns and Infinite instances arrive. ◆ The focus of this Chinese-style horror is [the horror of human nature] [a high degree of realism] [cause and effect]. The first four instances are mostly based on real news stories, with elements of Chinese folk customs or ghost stories. Given the subject matter, the protagonists of the instance stories are often wrongfully killed women and children, so the emotional experience is not pleasant. If you can’t accept this, you may find the story hard to read. ◆ Storytelling always comes before mystery and horror. To tell a better story, the author has selectively toned down the horror and deduction. The whole novel is only slightly scary, and some instances have no horror elements at all. Readers who only want mystery and horror can move on. ◆ The author's personal preference: chastity and bust size are the best dowries a man can have. ◆ The male lead is a background character with a childhood-friend role. His true form is peachwood struck by lightning. ◆ The team clears the instances together, but the story doesn’t quite reach the level of an ensemble novel. There are over a hundred characters in the book, and the author’s word count and ability are limited. Many characters don’t get much page time or development. When my writing improves, I’ll write an ensemble story. ◆ The heroine is the strongest, but she can still make mistakes when there are too few clues at the start of an investigation. She has a golden finger and her own way of doing things. This is not a story where the heroine brute-forces her way through or relies on outrageous stunts. ◆ The setting is entirely fictional, made up as the story goes. Please don’t scrutinize it for accuracy. ◆ Please don’t put down other stories or reduce this one to a set of labels. Thank you. Below is an upcoming Infinite story (now underway) Save Me, Sister, I Love You, Little Sister [Infinite] Chu Qingxia had a stroke of rotten luck: she came back to life after dying, only to transmigrate into an Infinite novel she had read. The novel had three heroines. One was the kindhearted, unattainable beauty, You Qinghe. She grew up with the male lead and died in the beginner instance while saving an elderly stranger. The ghosts ate her until not even bone fragments remained, and the male lead spent the rest of his life missing her. One was the cold, formidable heroine, Jiang Fengjue. To repay the debt of being saved, she used her metal ability to help the male lead build a steel-strong team of protagonists. She asked for no recognition and secretly loved him the whole time, then died saving him. One was the stunning, universally adored heroine, He Yun. She fell in love with the male lead, a privileged man, at first sight and followed him everywhere. He vacillated among his many female admirers, then finally chose to spend the rest of his life with her, swearing they would marry once they escaped the Infinite world. Just after transmigrating, Chu Qingxia blinked at the heroines as they silently stared back at her. She was sure of it. No wonder they were heroines. She loved them too! * The Infinite world had a real-time ranking board. At some point, a four-person team came out of nowhere and quickly climbed into the top three. After successfully clearing an SS-rank instance, Chu Qingxia’s team reached the top of the Infinite world rankings. As soon as she left the instance, Chu Qingxia picked up the little black cat covered in blood. “Thanks for all your hard work, System buddy!” You Qinghe smiled as she took the little black cat and set it on the ground. “The blood on it is Xiaxia’s. It didn’t work hard.” Jiang Fengjue frowned. “What kind of cat is that? Don’t tell me it turned into one just because you like cats.” He Yun smiled. “Something so small shouldn’t be going into instances. How about we stop bringing it along from now on?” Chu Qingxia: Something seems off. But her sisters smiled so beautifully. Hehe. * Chu Qingxia had been frail since childhood. Whenever they entered an instance, she tried to stay out of the way and give her teammates room to shine. She absolutely refused to drag them down. But in the end, tales of her spread throughout the Infinite world. She even held steadily to first place on the individual rankings. They called her “The Infinite world’s top strategist.” “The most ruthless member of the top team.” #My sisters are so obedient. Even the others become very obedient after I mess with them a little.# #I’m no strategist. I’m just my sisters’ precious baby girl.# Theme: Love can heal you, and it can heal the world
