After Coming Down the Mountain, I Became Famous for Being So Cuddly

Shu Lan, a little hamster who had just taken human form, went down the mountain. He stepped straight into a deep pit, and the palm-sized ball of fluff rolled all the way into the bustling city. There, someone immediately tricked him into signing away his freedom. Oh, what a disaster! He would have to work for the company for ten years to earn his freedom back! Shu Lan hugged himself with trembling paws... and a pocket full of gemstones, gold bars, and pearls piled like a mountain. He changed his mind. Could he trade all this for his freedom? QAQ Everyone at the company knew a new hire had recently joined. The washed-up actress at the front desk, the scandal-plagued star who mopped the floors, and the once-famous director now working as a security guard all wanted to gently persuade the newcomer to quit, out of sheer goodwill. But the moment they met him, they were overcome with a desire to nurture his talent. They all grabbed Shu Lan's hand, each vying to become his mentor. Shu Lan tilted his head, tiny paws held up: Squeak (Can't I have all of you?) A dark horse suddenly appeared in the entertainment industry, taking the nation by storm with his clear singing voice, superb acting, and lovable personality. Even the little hamster at his home was cuter and more intelligent than everyone else's. Fans and passersby alike adored it, and even if they didn't care for selfies of Shu Lan himself, they still waited every week for adorable hamster photos. Truly, "the star owes his fame to his pet." Shu Lan, the actual little hamster: ...As long as you're happy. ^ ^ Shu Lan had thought he would end up like some wretched laborer in a story, worked to death by a wicked boss who would squeeze him dry. But at the company he ate well and slept soundly, getting showered with treats and praise just like he had back in the mountains. When he turned back into his true form, he could lie flat and enjoy himself even more. The work was easy, too. He only had to eat and drink, and the money came rolling in. Shu Lan hugged his little pocket, counting his newly acquired shiny treasures, his eyes crinkling with delight. Behind the desk, the tall man rubbed his fingers together, missing the feeling of a little ball of fluff sitting in his palm while he stroked it. What should he do? Buy a mine first!
