Who in Their Right Mind Cultivates Immortality?

Yun Zhishui, a laid-back young man from the 21st century, was frail and weak. His greatest pleasure was lounging around and doing nothing, but he was unexpectedly chosen as this generation's guardian and sent to serve in the ancestral realm deep in the mountains (a prison sentence).

On his first day on the job, he took off. He bought a mansion down the mountain and started enjoying a leisurely retirement, dumping all his duties on Su Fu, the demon clan's guardian.

The hapless Su Fu was so furious he could grind his teeth to dust. A famous powerhouse of the demon clan, he looked down on this generation's human guardian from the bottom of his heart.

He had no cultivation whatsoever and was outrageously lazy, lying under a tree in the sun all day like some pampered lord. He even kept ogling Su Fu with lecherous eyes, probably imagining himself drawing erotic pictures!

If a good-for-nothing like that could be chosen as a guardian, the cultivation world was doomed, Su Fu thought.

But on the day the ancestral realm collapsed and countless evil spirits poured out, the useless man Su Fu had looked down on was the one who stood between him and the people, even as Su Fu lay gravely wounded and near death.

An unnamed spiritual flame sprang from his palm and became a dazzling sword, moving as he moved. Its swordlight burned away every stain in the world.

He did not cultivate immortality, because he himself was the last immortal in the world.
