The Stray Cat I Once Fed

Two years ago, Zhao Shu used to feed an especially pretty junior student the way you might feed a stray cat. For 3,000 yuan a month, the pretty junior was always at her beck and call, obedient in every way.

But she was broke, so after a month of enjoying herself, Zhao Shu ran out of money and promptly blocked the junior and disappeared.

Two years later, Zhao Shu saw the junior's face on the news: the scion of a prestigious family, a genius top student who had started a business on his own at a young age and become a rising star in the tech world. He was attending an APEC meeting, the youngest person there, and was the center of attention.

Thinking of the 3,000 yuan a month from two years ago, Zhao Shu spat out her water. It was like seeing the stray cat she'd once rescued turn into Thanos.

That evening, Zhao Shu got off work and went home.

She saw Thanos squatting outside her door, pitifully complaining that his startup had lost a fortune and he hadn't eaten in three days. Could Sister Zhao Shu treat him to a steamed bun?

Zhao Shu was skeptical, but the junior wolfed down a hard, dry bun that had been sitting there for three days and nearly choked.

Zhao Shu believed him, marveling that starting a business really was terrifying.

The junior looked at her pitifully and asked if she still needed a kitty. If 3,000 a month was too much, they could negotiate down to 300.

The driver who had just pulled up behind them in a Maybach finally couldn't hold back and let out a thunderous cough.

The junior wrapped an arm around Zhao Shu and walked her inside.
