After Reincarnating as the Male-Disguised Female Villainess of a Novel

Lu Lansheng transmigrates into the role of the cannon-fodder princess consort of a villainous prince.

And he's a man in disguise as a woman, too.

In the original book, Prince Pei Shen conquers cities and defeats barbarian kings, earning great military honors. To keep him in check, the emperor marries him off to Lu Lansheng, a concubine-born daughter of a low-ranking official's family.

Lu Lansheng has long admired Pei Shen. Resentful that his affection is not returned, he joins forces with villains to frame Pei Shen.

After turning evil, Pei Shen's first act is to depose Lu Lansheng, sever his meridians, and make sure he dies an agonizing death.

-

Lu Lansheng arrives on the night of his wedding to Pei Shen.

Red curtains hang around the bed, and the candlelight flickers.

From beneath the red veil, he can only make out the tall figure before him. The man leans down and says coldly, "I will not lift your veil. Behave yourself."

Lu Lansheng swallows nervously.

He yanks off the veil and ushers Pei Shen toward the door. "That's for the best. I have a hidden ailment, so from now on, let us each live in peace and stay out of each other's way."

Standing outside after being kicked out, Pei Shen stares blankly at the closed door. "...?"

Is this what it means to have admired someone for ages?

-

Pei Shen realizes that his princess consort is a little strange.

Other men's wives and concubines are delicate, skilled in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, and gentle and attentive to their husbands.

His own consort can carry a wooden bucket with one hand, eats three full bowls at a meal, never puts on makeup, and looks at him with less warmth than she shows the yellow-haired dog in their room.

And yet she is unfathomable. A few words of advice from her help him avoid schemes and turn the court upside down.

What a peculiar young lady from a respectable family.

-

One night, Lu Lansheng is bathing in a pool when he hears footsteps crunching gravel nearby. Worried that his male identity will be exposed, he immediately pulls up his robe and runs out, only to find no one there.

The next day, word spreads through the prince's household that the prince spent the whole night alone in the courtyard, blushing and standing in the cold wind.
