Falling in Love for Real While Faking It with My Childhood Friend, the Movie Star

[Blurb]

Wen Juan has a secret: he's been in love with his childhood friend, Chen Zhan, for as long as he can remember.

But Wen Juan is a nobody, a minor celebrity barely known in the industry, while Chen Zhan is a cold, abstinent movie star, and about as straight as they come.

Wen Juan treasures their friendship and decides to keep his love hidden for the rest of his life.

His unscrupulous company forces Wen Juan to take a role in a boys' love drama. His male co-star looks down on his low status and quits.

Faced with a ruinous penalty, Wen Juan's predicament reaches Chen Zhan, who asks, "Juanjuan, why didn't you come to me?"

Wen Juan is stunned. "That doesn't seem right..."

Chen Zhan: "It's fine. It's just acting."

Wen Juan is desperate, so he accepts with heartfelt gratitude.

With movie star Chen Zhan joining the project, advertisers pour in, and it becomes an S+ tier commissioned production.

From the early promotions through filming and publicity, the two put on a sweet act, driving the whole country wild over their CP.

Wen Juan, however, stays clear-headed. He knows Chen Zhan doesn't like men. Once their promotional campaign ends, he'll immediately step away and make sure he doesn't hold Chen Zhan back.

Until one day, while filming an intimate scene, Chen Zhan murmurs tenderly in Wen Juan's ear.

Suddenly, they both stiffen, and Wen Juan senses something unusual in Chen Zhan's body.

Afterward, Wen Juan comforts the mortified Chen Zhan: "It's okay. You're a good actor. You just got too deep into the role."

Worried that Chen Zhan can't get out of character and that it might affect his life, Wen Juan starts keeping his distance.

But from then on, every night Chen Zhan closes his eyes, all he can think about is Wen Juan.

Especially after he realizes Wen Juan seems to be avoiding him, whether intentionally or not. He's practically going crazy!

He wants to do a hundred retakes of the kissing scene.

He wants intimate scenes without a camera angle as an excuse.

Later, when their promotional campaign ends, they stop attending events together.

Wen Juan is doing a livestream from the red carpet at a film festival. Antis flood the comments, saying he's clinging to the movie star and can't stand on his own. Then Chen Zhan suddenly appears and puts an arm around Wen Juan's shoulders.

"Why haven't you answered my texts, Juanjuan?"

Later still, Chen Zhan has a new drama airing. Wen Juan doesn't want to interfere with his work and suggests they should end their CP act.

That night, Chen Zhan buries his face in Wen Juan's neck and pleads softly:

"Juanjuan, what if we made our fake relationship real?"
