After the Hostage Prince from an Enemy Nation Seized Power

The first time Xue Yi saw Shen Yunchu, the bright-eyed young man, dressed in fine clothes and astride a spirited horse, swaggered straight into his heart.

The second time they met, the once carefree, bold youth was pale. His stern face wore a smile that never reached his eyes as he said softly, "You lost."

Now, one was a lofty emperor, and the other a hostage from an enemy state.

Xue Yi became the caged bird of the boy he had once adored. Everyone said he was the young emperor's favorite plaything.

What others didn't know was how tender and passionate the cool, aloof emperor could be on his bed beneath the cover of night.

Later, Xue Yi secretly won over court officials and raised troops. He turned the shackles Shen Yunchu had once used to bind him into chains around Shen Yunchu's wrists, trapping his old friend in a cramped space and repaying him in full for every past humiliation and favor.

He waited to see Shen Yunchu's face contorted with fury and hatred, but Shen Yunchu still looked as cold and indifferent as ever.

Xue Yi couldn't understand him, or see clearly into his own heart.

Love grew recklessly amid bone-deep hatred. When they tried to make sense of it, they discovered they had long since fallen incurably ill.

Note: 1. One-on-one, happy ending. The cold-faced, even colder-hearted young emperor who plays hard to get is the bottom (Shen Yunchu) x the enemy-state hostage who endures humiliation and repays every slight is the top (Xue Yi). No switching.

2. The conflict over national and family hatred will receive a reasonable explanation in the story. Danjuan just really wants to write a crazy, mutually destructive love story.

3. The blurb is from the top's perspective, while the main story is from the bottom's perspective. Angsty first, sweet later.
