The Saniwa Ango

Updates are irregular. I'm recovering from poor health.

*My take on wild-dog Ango. The original doesn't give us enough characterization to analyze him properly, which is a shame, so I'll be adding some headcanon.

Sakaguchi Ango died.

Just before he did, he thought he saw Dazai looking panicked, though it was probably an illusion.

The plan had more or less succeeded. As for what came after, Dazai and the others would surely wrap things up perfectly.

They would be fine without him.

Then he came back to life.

The Time Government rescued him, on the condition that he work for them as a Saniwa. A rookie Saniwa inherited a secondhand Honmaru. The previous Saniwa had retired normally, and everyone in the Honmaru was healthy in body and mind, with no one having fallen to corruption. It was a perfectly good start from the start, with no tragic plotline in sight.

Unfortunately, Sakaguchi Ango seemed to have passively acquired the sickly-villain filter, making him look even darker and more twisted than the corrupted Tsukumogami of legend.

When they ran into a robber, the young man's faint smile and shadowy murderous intent were hidden behind his reflective glasses.

The Sword Warriors shuddered. "Taisho/Arujin, stop! His crimes don't deserve death!"

Ango, who had only meant to take out his phone and call the police: "?"

Under the Thousand-Leaf Cherry Tree, petals drifted down. The young man sat on a branch, eyes gently closed. His back slackened as he seemed to lean backward

"Taisho/Arujin, please don't hurt yourself! The world is still beautiful!"

Ango, who had only strained his back a little while moving: "."

The Sword Warriors, who should have been settling into their golden years, worried themselves sick. They decided their new master deserved the most thorough care and love. The workaholic, born to toil, just felt like he was stuck behind an extra-thick filter.

What on earth are you imagining?! (dead-eyed)

★ Reader's Guide:

1. No romance, just a lighthearted daily-life story. The focus is on Ango interacting with the sword guys. Their wild assumptions are a recurring bit, but won't take up every chapter.

2. Mainly Touken Ranbu, with a little My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Detective Conan, and Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun.

3. I'll refer to the original work, official guidebooks, and other materials for accuracy. Research and quotations will be marked, but some OOC moments and headcanon are unavoidable.
