Calculating younger high-ranking-official's son and actor seme VS honest, married-life-loving, poor writer uke
[Popular Version]
An honest man moves north to Beijing to write. He wants to become the kind of friend who can talk all night with a kind college student he feels an instant connection with, and a future successor to the cause of communism.
The college student says he only wants to spend all night doing it with him: beep.
The honest man won't give up or abandon him. He insists on being friends, or it just doesn't sit right with him.
The honest man wants it, and the honest man gets it.
But when the honest man starts wanting his "friendship" with the other man all to himself,
the college student raises a hand to stop him and says he'll shoulder every hardship, and work hard for their future.
In the cramped, hot bed, the college student hoists one of the honest man's thighs and works hard, harder, and harder, up and down, left and right, BABA.
The honest man gasps.
[Reality Version]
The character Huan in Lin Huan's name comes from the idea of using poison as medicine: not avoiding life's hardships, but swallowing them until they become part of your name.
Everyone takes pride in how much hardship Lin Huan can endure, including Lin Huan himself.
But a young man tells him, "No, Lin Huan should only have to eat candy."
Tan Jialang has no shortage of love, of all kinds.
He comes from a wealthy family and is the son of a high-ranking official. His home is in Beijing's inner city, guarded by armed security at every turn.
But that doesn't stop him from wanting to keep all of Lin Huan's love and feelings for himself.
Laughter and teasing, tears and sorrow: Lin Huan's tears should only be shed for him.
Only then can he stop feeling jealous.

This is a story set in a Beijing hutong in 1987.
The only college graduate from a village in the south does something astonishing: he quits his job as a newspaper staffer at a thermal power plant and travels 1,900 kilometers north to Beijing to write for his dream, only to have his job referral letter switched with someone else's by his mentor's wife.
With no other choice, he starts life as a drifter.
This tiny room is only four square meters, just big enough for a plank bed where two people can sleep pressed chest to back. And yet it is vast, vast enough to hold their heavy dreams and surging, uncontrollable feelings.
Lin Huan falls for Tan Jialang at first sight, but it's also a sudden realization.
At the time, he didn't recognize how special it was. He only felt dazed.
[Before You Read] I've always wanted to read a slice-of-life story with a strong sense of the era, one that really gets under your skin, so I decided to write one myself.
I'll write according to my own tastes. I hope to find fellow readers with the same preferences.
Slow burn, with feelings developing gradually, and a six-year age gap.
