Chu Sui was a renowned young prodigy of a painter. His paintings brimmed with an intense, radiant vitality, like the blazing sun, like midsummer, but nothing like him.

Chu Sui had depression and autism. He said fewer words in front of people than his paintings contained.

He and his paintings were complete opposites.

Everyone who had met Chu Sui thought that beneath the flamboyant, dazzling style of his paintings lay intense sadness and repression.

Sheng Jianyu said, "It's like a flower about to wither, blooming to its fullest just before it dies, a beauty so brilliant it outshines death."

At one of Chu Sui's art exhibitions, a self-portrait in a completely different style suddenly appeared. The beautiful young man had fine trails of blood and bruises on his face, and carefully cradled a pot of freesia. The light in his eyes was striking.

It was a fresh, melancholy painting, as delicate as the freesia, yet it held the same brilliant vitality as his other works.

But the name on the painting was "Chu Sui."
