I Deceived the Gods

[Classic angsty melodrama, with plenty of heartbreak along the way, but a happy ending!!!]

“He descended the mountain for me, lost his divinity, and stained himself with the blood of the mortal world.”

“But all I wanted was to tempt him into the mortal realm and turn him into a divine weapon. In the name of love, I made him defy fate and doom himself to eternal ruin. Am I a coldhearted, faithless person?”

Gu Shao'an walked step by step toward the highest seat in the great hall. Looking back at the mountains bowing before him and the people worshiping him, he spoke to someone far away.

“Kings have always been ruthless.”

“The path you must walk requires no love or loyalty toward him.”

Mo Jiang, trapped in the Thunder Marsh, gazed across countless rivers and mountains at the man ruling the world. Though punished by endless thunderbolts, all he felt was heartache. That was his reply.

In the twelfth year of Yongping, Gu Shao'an, the seventh prince of Great Zhou, was falsely accused of plotting rebellion.

His mother was sentenced to death, and his entire clan was implicated. The seventh prince alone escaped into Jiwu Mountain, gravely wounded. No one knew whether he was alive or dead.

Three years later, the seventh prince returned to the world.

He cleared his name, eliminated the treacherous ministers, ascended the throne, and ushered in an age of peace and prosperity.

It was said that the former crown prince had sent countless assassins, even deploying troops to hunt down his own younger brother, but had never succeeded. That was because a mysterious, handsome man had always protected the seventh prince.

“We’re about to part. Is there anything you want to say to me?”

“A god should not love one person, but all people.”

“From now on, cherish the people of this realm for me.”
