That Damn Straight Guy

Lin Huai has a childhood friend named Pei Zhouze. He's handsome, fit, rich, and the campus heartthrob everyone knows. The only problem is, he's a hopelessly straight guy. On the basketball court, the class president coyly brings him a drink. Pei Zhouze frowns. "I brought my own." At the singing competition, an upperclassman asks for his WeChat backstage. Pei Zhouze turns her down. "I'm not joining any clubs." Late at night, the campus belle calls to say she's sick. Pei Zhouze replies coolly. "Then drink more hot water." Lin Huai is at his wit's end. "They like you!" Pei Zhouze: "Is the game not fun enough, or is basketball boring?" This hopelessly straight guy takes his aversion to gay people for granted. Even when a guy he's close to confesses to him, he blocks him without mercy. Having witnessed this and harboring the same feelings himself, Lin Huai decides to distance himself from Pei Zhouze for the sake of preserving their friendship. Instead, Pei Zhouze slings an arm around his shoulders and starts spouting cheesy lines. "Come on, let's play soccer. I'll kick the ball right into your heart." Lin Huai makes a face of pure agony. A downpour during a soccer match leaves them both sick. Pei Zhouze waits on Lin Huai hand and foot. He skips class to ruffle his hair, bring him food and medicine, and is only a step away from feeding him mouth to mouth. Lying in his hospital bed, Lin Huai decides to come clean. "I like men." Pei Zhouze's hand holding the medicine trembles. "Huai, get some rest. Once your cold's gone, you won't be having strange thoughts anymore." Lin Huai keeps confessing. "Actually, I've liked you for a long time." Pei Zhouze finishes explaining how to take the medicine, then makes a quick escape. Later, Lin Huai goes out to eat with an upperclassman who's into men. Pei Zhouze, sitting at the next table, grows more and more agitated. Halfway through the meal, he finally can't hold back and charges over, gritting his teeth. "It's only been a few days, and you're already moving on?" Theme: People need to understand themselves properly
