[Dream of the Red Chamber] Two Beauties of Gold and Jade

[I'll come back to this one after finishing The Nineteenth-Century Marriage Swap next door. I will finish it!]

One was to be pitied for her virtue, the other lamented for her poetic talent.

In the end, though, the jade sash hung in the forest, and the golden hairpin lay buried in the snow.

After returning to the Land of Regret, Daiyu finally learned that she was a character in a book.

The rise and fall of the Rong and Ning houses, the fated bond between the stone and the flower, the blood and tears that soaked through handkerchiefs: all were nothing but fiction...

Reborn, Daiyu watched everything around her with cold eyes, until someone brought her a shattered golden lock and told her, "Piner, the past is like a dream. When it's time to let go, let go."

On the night she was reborn, Xue Baochai melted her Leng Xiang pills, burned Admonitions for Women, and smashed her golden lock. The blazing firelight illuminated her calm face.

"If this world is nothing but a prison of false words written in ink, then I'll overturn this game and take up the brush myself."

Later, Daiyu wielded poetry like a sword, and the name of the Consort of Xiaoxiang became renowned throughout the land. Baochai took charge of the trading houses, and the Xue family's banners flew over the canal docks.

Much later, Daiyu still remembered the night the two awakened souls from the book recognized each other. Sister Bao had said to her, "Rather than believe in some fated match between gold and jade, let's forge a sword that can cut through destiny and rewrite our verdicts."

From then on, the thousand red beauties flourished, the myriad women rejoiced, and the girls of the Red Chamber finally found happiness.
