1. On her first day at school, Wen Li met He Xili.

He had transferred from Jingbei to Nantang Town. Riding a flashy motorcycle, he was handsome, tall, and came from a wealthy family. He became the talk of every girl at school overnight.

Then Wen Li was bullied. Wearing his hoodie, she was firmly pulled behind him. His rebellious face was full of protectiveness.

"Anyone who dares lay a hand on her again had better think carefully about the consequences."

From then on, Wen Li clung to the hem of He Xili's clothes, following him everywhere like his little shadow.

He Xili leaned against the doorframe, his eyes dark. The heavy smell of smoke drifted in. "Want to interview me?"

Before she could answer, he said in a low voice, "Fine."

"Marry me."

After an accident at work, a group of people were giving statements.

Her friend linked arms with Wen Li, sounding envious. "He Xili has been fighting for you since he was a teenager, and he's still doing it now that he's nearly thirty."

The man approached Wen Li from across the room, his eyes fixed on her. In front of everyone, he took her hand without hesitation and bent to kiss her between the brows.

"Let's go home, my wife."

He Xili never knew that when his headlights were smashed back then, Wen Li stayed up all night and made him a pair of headlight lanterns with little bulbs.

Wen Li never knew that after they broke up, He Xili tattooed her name on his ring finger and sent her countless messages saying he missed her.

Shen Muyao leaned naked against a corner. He raised an eyebrow casually, grinning with roguish mischief. "Haven't seen enough yet?"

The man's teasing gaze made Chi Jia blush furiously.

After the shoot, her friend clicked her tongue. "Anyone would get weak in the knees seeing Shen Muyao's body. Dating him must be incredible!"

Chi Jia nodded silently. Too bad she'd turned him into an ex-boyfriend.

2. Once, Shen Muyao had spoiled Chi Jia ever since they were children, and she loved following right behind him.

After they broke up, Shen Muyao treated her like a stranger.

At a party one time, a drunk Chi Jia wrapped her arms around Shen Muyao's neck and kissed his Adam's apple.

The man stubbed out his cigarette and pinched her cheek with cruel arrogance. His low voice sounded wicked to the core. "Chi Jianjian, if you kiss me, you're going to have to take responsibility."

3. Later, Shen Muyao won an Olympic gold medal, and an old video surfaced on Weibo.

Teenage Shen Muyao was bold and carefree. He lifted his shirt to wipe the blood and grime from his face, then forcefully pulled Chi Jia into his arms and kissed her deeply.

Their childhood friends never imagined he'd make a move on Chi. They were stunned. "Shen Muyao, you bastard!"

Chi Jia tried to run, but Shen Muyao scooped her up with one arm. With a lewd grin, he said, "I'm happy to be her dog."

Chi Jia had always thought that Shen Muyao, the golden boy, had never stopped for her.

Only later did she learn that the woman in all the hand-drawn portraits covering his room was her, and that the boy who was battered and bruised had been that way for her, too.
