While studying abroad, Si Huai was ordered into an arranged marriage by her family. No matter how hard she resisted, nothing worked, and they even cut off her credit cards.
She skipped her major classes and secretly flew back to China to see her prospective groom. She took a budget airline, squeezed into a rideshare, and got by on bottled water and hard steamed buns. After three days of transfers and travel, she finally made it to the office building of her intended.
She pulled her baseball cap down over her head. Wearing a holey T-shirt and jeans, with dirt all over her hands, she casually smeared some flowerbed mud on her face, too. When she saw a man emerge from the office, surrounded by admirers, she threw caution to the wind. "Hey, you're Jin Zichen, right?"
"Let's get acquainted. I'm your arranged-marriage match."
"As for my education, I went to school for a few years. I can read, and I don't pick up random trash to eat. I'm more than good enough for you."
She ran a hand over the man's black suit, not caring about appearances. "You're not bad-looking, either. Let's get married. Come on, let's go register right now and surprise our dad."
With that, she took his hand and led him straight out.
The man's fingers were long, pale, and elegant. Even after she had treated him so rudely, he showed no sign of anger. In fact, he really did walk with her for a while.
Biting her lip, Si Huai thought something was off. Why hadn't she scared him away yet?
Just as she was about to push things further, an uncertain male voice called out, "Huai'er?"
Si Huai turned around and saw him. Oh, no. She'd got the wrong arranged-marriage match.
Only later did she find out who the man she'd grabbed with her muddy hand had been.
The newly risen tech tycoon, the ruthless second son of the Xie family whom nobody dared cross: Jin Yi'an, Jin Zichen's younger brother. He'd been neglected since childhood and left to fend for himself. The two brothers had never got along, and were bitter rivals who refused to back down.
Amitabha. When her family bundled Si Huai off back to school, she sent him a message: "Sorry about that, I got the wrong guy. I think I'm supposed to be your sister-in-law!"
But when the semester ended and she went home to get married, her arranged-marriage partner had really become Jin Yi'an.
Si Huai: SOS, somebody save me!
At a family gathering some time later, she spotted her former prospective groom and guiltily tried to sneak around him with a serving platter.
But someone grabbed her by the back of the neck and hauled her back. His voice was cool and detached. "Come on, call him Big Brother."
Si Huai punched him. He was even more of a scoundrel: blocking his big brother, he said with a faint smile, "She's your younger sister-in-law. Changed your mind?"
Jin Zichen was so furious his face turned pale. They say he couldn't get out of bed for three days afterward.
Later, Si Huai was the one who couldn't get out of bed for three days.
Si Huai: *sobs* Didn't we agree to a loveless marriage where we could each do our own thing?
Marriage first, love later / He's been plotting this for a long time
A guileless, kind-hearted heiress x a calculating, ruthless CEO with a deceptively innocent side
Both brothers love the heroine. She's gorgeous and a little goofy.
A sweet story, super sweet, mostly about the push and pull between them.
Theme: I love you more than anything in my past.
