Jian Xin, an eighteen-year-old student at an interstellar military academy, got a call from her mother,

who told her that her “fiance” would come to the school to pick her up after class tomorrow.

A fiance???

Since when did she have one?!

The next day after class,

the school gate, usually packed with people, had become eerily quiet. A huge alien-looking spacecraft occupied the entire road.

A man in a dark green uniform leaped down from the craft, his tall figure casting a shadow over her. His tousled coffee-brown hair fell in front of his eyes. He gave a slight blink with his beautiful brown eyes, took her hand in a white-gloved one, and kissed the back of it. “Come home with me.”

What a handsome man...

Wait,

why does he have two tentacles on his head?!

Eek! Jian Xin took off running. She hated insects more than anything!

The very next day, Victor became Jian Xin's deskmate.

She soon discovered that although her deskmate had an imposing presence and was taciturn, he wasn't very bright and had to ask her about all kinds of things.

Fortunately, she was a helpful person. After spending time together, the two grew closer.

At a banquet, a drunk Jian Xin put an arm around the person beside her and declared, “Victor, stick with me from now on. Big Sis will look after you.”

“Okay.” The man's eyes sparkled, and the tentacles on his head wiggled nervously with embarrassment.

Later on,

Jian Xin realized she didn't seem to mind tentacles that much anymore.

They felt nice to touch, and a little squeeze could get her a handsome guy blushing...

“Victor is so cute.”

“Victor, Big Sis loves you.”

“If any of you dare lay a finger on him, I'll kill you.”

Until one day,

Jian Xin made a bet with her friends and flew alone into insect territory to sneak a photo of the insect emperor.

Through a half-open door,

she saw a huge council chamber packed with insect elders, sitting in neat rows.

The young insect emperor sat in the center, back straight, announcing a new law in a cold, icy voice.

Jian Xin was dumbfounded: Isn't this her adorable little Victor?!
