I'm Actually the Demon King

Xuan Ying casually rescues a mortal girl while hunting demons. She has exquisitely beautiful features and a kind, gentle nature, and the members of the Demon-Hunting Bureau all feel protective of her.

Xuan Ying is cold by nature and doesn't want to drag a burden along with him. He decides to leave the girl behind as soon as they reach a large city.

But on the night before they enter the city, demons attack the inn where they're staying. In the wilderness, he sees a group of powerful demons kneeling and trembling before her as she silently snaps the neck of a demon spirit.

Xuan Ying: ???

The bad news: She's completely forgotten that he's been her bodyguard and purse for the whole journey, and just calls him her benefactor.

The good news: Just like before she lost her memory, she's fallen for his gorgeous face again :)

With fingers stained in demon blood, Song Ning lifts Xuan Ying's chin and studies him for a moment. "With a face like that, even if you were a demon, I couldn't bring myself to kill you."

Xuan Ying, who turned Song Ning down earlier that day: "Well, well. It's my good fortune that my face has caught Miss Cui's eye."

In the thirty-fifth year of Yong'an, Master Cideng, abbot of the Great Compassion Temple, delivered two prophecies: first, a Demon King will appear in Huizhou; second, the Demon King's guardian will unleash a storm of bloodshed on her behalf, and that guardian will come from the royal court of Huizhou.

As the Commander of the Demon-Hunting Bureau and a member of the Huizhou royal family, Xuan Ying finds the prophecy laughable. Which idiot would give up his comfortable life as a royal to become a bodyguard for some Demon King?

Later, covered in blood as he carves a path through the enemies for Song Ning, Xuan Ying finally realizes: Well, would you look at that. He's the idiot:)

Told from the heroine's point of view.
