Du Yinshu transmigrated into the body of a young princess confined in the Cold Palace.
But as a modern, highly capable person, Du Yinshu believes that how you start doesn't matter.
She starts off with a fever and is close to dying?
No problem. She's good at solving problems, so she dismantles the furniture and burns it for warmth.
What if she runs out of food later?
No problem. She's good at surviving, so she can grow vegetables in the Cold Palace and feed herself.
What if she has no money to buy daily necessities?
No problem. She's good at all sorts of things, so she can perform for the princes and princesses to earn money.
And so, despite her hellish start, Du Yinshu settles into a carefree life in the Cold Palace.
Until one day, a neglected prince from an enemy kingdom is sent over as a hostage. On his first day wandering into the Cold Palace, he tramples the melon seedlings Du Yinshu had struggled to sprout.
The next day, he uses a slingshot to scare her chickens into scattering in every direction.
By the Nth day, Du Yinshu, who has always been good at putting up with things, can take no more. She locks the bratty prince in an underground chamber for a day and a night. What she doesn't expect is that the troublesome little prince will sob his heart out and beg her to let him go.
The two trade blows and become enemies, squabbling so fiercely every time they meet that the place is left in chaos.
When Du Yinshu is sixteen, the emperor dies and her elder brother takes the throne. The little prince who was once held hostage is sent back to his own country.
Just as Du Yinshu thinks she can return to a quiet life, her brother suddenly brings her out of the Cold Palace and restores her title. The imperial consorts begin treating her with utmost respect.
But Du Yinshu couldn't care less. She only wants to return to the Cold Palace and tend her fields in peace. When her brother sacrifices her by sending her to marry into the enemy kingdom, Du Yinshu leaps from the city wall...
But the enemy general, who has raced toward her like the wind, catches her without fail.
Shen Chengjin knows that someone has lived in his heart for years. The moment he stepped into that dilapidated palace, a little girl with a dust-covered face and a bright smile had barged right into his heart.
Right then, he vowed that he would have her, no matter what it took.
Reader's Guide:
1. Childhood sweethearts. The early chapters are about daily life, farming, and playful bickering; later there are some palace intrigues, but don't take them too seriously.
2. The heroine has a powerful will to survive. She jumps off the city wall not because she wants to die.
3. This blurb is provisional as of [4.28]. I'll add more if I think of anything.
