The first time Shu Yao saw Xin Yang, he was surrounded by a crowd as he walked out of a convenience store, with a girl beside him coquettishly acting spoiled.
Xin Yang was carefree and languid, a casual smile playing on his lips. He held a bottle of blue-can cola, its icy condensation melting beneath his fingertips and turning his knuckles red with cold.
He glanced at Shu Yao with an air of nonchalance. One look was all it took to throw her into confusion and make her heart race.
Shu Yao choked, her eyes turning red. Someone took the alcohol from her hand and put a chilled bottle of cola in it. "Drink some cola."

Everyone said Xin Yang was trouble, no good, and had let down plenty of girls.
But you can't control who you fall for.
Shu Yao carefully held on to her feelings, treasuring Xin Yang like a precious secret.
At a classmate's birthday party, Shu Yao happened to see another girl confessing to Xin Yang. Leaning against the wall with a beam of light behind him, he spoke casually, but with a hint of malice: "You scared my girlfriend away."
Swallowing her bitterness, Shu Yao lowered her head and apologized.
Xin Yang stood up and backed her into a corner. His shoes touched hers as he leaned his tall frame toward her, his lowered voice bewitching: "How about you be my girlfriend instead?"

When they met again later, Xin Yang was still surrounded by admirers, carefree and arrogant.
After they left a dinner gathering, rain poured down. Xin Yang instinctively held his umbrella over her and grabbed Shu Yao's arm. "I'll take you home."
Shu Yao pulled free, polite but distant. "No need. We're not going the same way..."
At that moment, Xin Yang gritted his teeth, feeling as if the cold rain had cut straight to his bones.
