I Win Over a Rugged Scholar with Wontons

"What can you even do with a degree in Classical Chinese literature? You won't find a job."

Meng Qingyou proves through personal experience that you can transmigrate, and even work as a tavern lackey.

A Chinese language major making wontons in ancient times: is that what they call a job in your field?

Unfortunately, the very first bowl of wontons killed someone, and the victim was an exceptional student at the Tang family school.

In an age when "women are worthless in every way, while men alone are fit to study," a young woman armed with knowledge from the modern world seems utterly useless.

Who says so? Meng Qingyou refuses to accept it. "I can make wontons, and I can write books, too!"

The young master of the Tang family gives his fan a flick and smiles. "In our vast and civilized land, how did a wicked woman like you ever come to be? Tsk."

After the Tang family falls, the young master, now dressed in rags, clutches a bowl of wontons and pleads pitifully, "Actually, my grandfather was Xianbei. He herded horses beyond the frontier. My father was over thirty when he surrendered to the Han and was made a prince. That's when he first picked up a writing brush."

Warning: I like gruff men with a surprising soft side, so the male lead has Xianbei blood and starts out as a misogynist. He'll get better after being taught a lesson.
