The Little Neighbor Is So Sweet and Well-Behaved

Su Xiaozhou was frail as a child. After listening to someone's advice, an elder in his family gave him the nickname Meimei, meaning little sister, thinking that if the illness saw that his name and gender didn't match, it would stay away. Su Xiaozhou's health did improve, but a new problem arose: people around him often assumed from his nickname that he really was a girl. On top of that, he was so delicate and pretty that he looked sweet and soft. Sometimes, even when he explained that he was a boy, nobody believed him, so eventually he stopped trying.

When he was five, he moved to a new home. The first time the neighbor's aunt saw him, she adored him so much that she grabbed her own son and said, "You have to look after your little sister and protect her. You mustn't bully her, okay?"

And so Su Xiaozhou got an older brother. His brother was half a head taller, and didn't like talking to people much, but he always kept the promise he'd made when they first met: he looked after Su Xiaozhou, protected him, and never bullied him.

When Su Xiaozhou cried, he comforted him.

When Su Xiaozhou was afraid of the dark, he stayed with him.

But when Su Xiaozhou wanted kisses and cuddles... he firmly refused.

Su Xiaozhou thought the boy next door didn't like him and only played with him because his mother told him to. That was until one day, after bathing at home, Su Xiaozhou forgot to get his pajamas and strolled out through the living room, where the other boy happened to see him...

From the top's perspective:

Lin Yuan had a sweet, soft little neighbor. At first, he thought she was a girl, but later found out he was a boy.

Well, a little brother was fine. It didn't make much difference anyway. If he cried, Lin Yuan still had to comfort him; if he was afraid of the dark, he still had to stay with him. And if he wanted kisses and cuddles... well, that seemed fine too?

Many years later, Lin Yuan no longer wanted to be Su Xiaozhou's big brother. He wanted to be his boyfriend.

Su Xiaozhou was completely bewildered and didn't know what to do.

Lin Yuan coaxed him: Even if I'm not your big brother anymore, you won't lose anything you had before. You'll get even more.

Su Xiaozhou asked him: Like what?

Lin Yuan: Love.

Su Xiaozhou: What's that?

Lin Yuan: From now on, I can keep you company every night while you sleep.

Su Xiaozhou, who was afraid of the dark and a bit of a coward: Yay!
