A prophecy foretold that the greatest god in the world would soon be born among the dragons. The dragons waited eagerly for tens of thousands of years, only to get a chaotic, unruly demon dragon.
She had no ambition, loved good food, adored humans, and loved shiny things most of all. Her cave was piled high with gold coins, and even the dragon statues enshrined in her temple were made of gold.
The dragons: Forget it. This dragon is a lost cause. Let's wait for the next one.
And so Long Jue set off to enjoy dragon life, with more gold than she could ever spend.
The dragon's arrival caused a great stir among humans. Everyone was terrified and anxious, trembling through several days and regarding her with awe and worship, as if she were a deity.
One day, someone knelt before the god and wept: "My lord, a sudden flood struck my hometown and destroyed everything..."
Long Jue replied that flood control was another dragon's job. She didn't know how!
But she had money. Long Jue swished her tail, then reluctantly pushed a few gold coins toward the person and asked in a trembling voice, "I-is this enough?"
The people: What a generous deity!
Feng Yin failed his tribulation and was close to death. Covered in blood, he curled up in a sorry heap beneath the divine statue. Heaven and earth had rejected him since birth, and this was the only place where the deity had not driven him away.
He struggled to raise a hand and touch the statue. A greedy, yearning desire began to grow wildly in a place no one could see.
The deity stood high above him. He was so base that he did not even deserve to look up at her. The place his fingertips touched burned in his heart.
As death approached, Feng Yin's consciousness began to fade. He used all his strength to grasp at something.
"Crack, "
The god appeared.
The deity was not imposing. When she saw him, she did not look disgusted. Instead, her face was full of disbelief, and she seemed on the verge of collapse.
"You actually stole my gold?"
"..."
"And you stole such a big piece!"
Long Jue crouched down, hands trembling. She held the corner of the statue Feng Yin had accidentally chipped off. When she looked up again, she saw that the thief was barely breathing and looked about to die. She nearly burst into tears.
"Don't die! If you die, who'll pay me back? This is pure gold! Even if your soul scatters here today, I'll piece it back together so you can pay me first!"
Feng Yin: "..."
The god was not quite what he had imagined.
He had not found a compassionate god. He had found a creditor.
