Raising a Mad Dog

Everyone says Ruan JinNian is a wolf, a wolf who can't control his pheromones and attacks people left and right. Whoever adopts him is just asking for trouble.

After hearing this, Ruan Jinnian boasts, "Who do they think they are, trying to control me? Honestly, I should find myself a well-behaved Omega..."

Ding.

His communicator displays a notice: Ruan Jinnian has been adopted by Prosecutor Ji Chenqing.

According to the rumors, she's the prosecutor with the worst temper.

Ruan Jinnian sneers. A useless Beta who doesn't even have pheromones.

He says nonchalantly, "I bet she won't be able to put up with me for even a day."

On the day of the adoption, Ruan Jinnian puts on his flashiest jacket, dyes his hair in the most rebellious style, and saunters into Ji Chenqing's residence with his hands in his pockets and a cheeky grin. "So, which one of you is Ji Chenqing?"

A young man slowly descends from the attic. His face is deathly pale, his lips almost colorless, as if a gust of wind might blow him right off the stairs.

Seeing such a beauty, Ruan Jinnian feels a pang of tenderness. "Maybe you should just let me go free?"

Ji Chenqing crooks a finger. "I don't like those clothes. Someone, take them off him."

*

Ruan Jinnian has two great grievances in life.

One is that the first time he met Ji Chenqing, a Beta stripped him naked.

The other is that he bowed his head at Ji Chenqing's feet, willingly becoming her dog.

And damn it, Ji Chenqing still hasn't agreed.

Reader's guide:

1. A hard-to-control, extremely possessive Alpha attacker x a Beta recipient who can't be bothered to control him and does whatever she wants

2. The attacker has a terrible temper and likes to use his pheromones to overwhelm others [important]

3. There are some original worldbuilding details. Betas have no pheromones, but can sense those of Alphas and Omegas, and can still be affected by powerful pheromones.

4. This is a self-indulgent story. The original blurb didn't spark ideas, so I made major changes. The cover is used with permission from the artist, Red-Braised Chicken Popcorn.

Theme: Learn to love yourself first, and only then can you love someone else.
