Shen Xianyu never dreamed that one moment she’d be happily fishing, and the next she’d be transported to a parallel world.
Now she’s a fish worth a fortune.
The System tells her that if she can get past the hooks, nets, spears, and electric fences in front of her... she’ll have a chance to ascend and become human!
After a flurry of maneuvers, Shen Xianyu successfully takes human form and makes it to shore, only to realize things aren’t so simple.
This is Country A, a poor, rugged, backward land where hunting is the locals’ only source of income.
And her current identity is that of a rare animal wearing human skin. In other words, she’s the most sought-after quarry.
That won’t do!
To protect her own safety, she decides to lead everyone down the path of scientific development and prosperity.
System: "Congratulations! You’ve received your starting item: [Livestream]. You can use livestream earnings to unlock more items!"
Shen Xianyu: "You got it!"
Six months later, a mysterious livestream appears on "Clickety-Click," a popular short-video app in neighboring Country B. The streamer travels through the mountains and forests, where all kinds of rare and wondrous creatures appear on camera.
Country B’s residents, exhausted and anxious from the cutthroat rat race, are captivated by the beautiful scenery. The livestream holds steady at the top of the popularity charts.
[The wind rabbits have such long, soft ears. So cute!]
[Is this the legendary Xinghua? They say just seeing one brings good luck. Quick, make a wish!]
[I hereby declare this little silver deer my son. I’m going to watch him grow up every day!]
As the comments go wild, streamer Shen Xianyu cruelly reveals the truth: "Cute, right? Pretty, right? But Country A is broke! These little critters are about to be sold to Country B and turned into your luxury furs and fancy flower tea!"
The comments erupt in despair: [Nooo!]
Shen Xianyu smiles faintly. "Don’t panic. There’s still a way. Send me 50, and help me build a nature reserve!"
Years later, this land has become an ecotourism destination, and Country A has finally escaped poverty and grown prosperous. At the Wealth Plaza in the heart of the country, a young child looks up at Shen Xianyu’s statue and asks their mother:
"Mom, who is she?"
"No, she isn’t human."
The young mother answers solemnly, "She is our guardian deity."
