The Lone Wild Goose

Across a vast land, ghosts and demons run rampant. Someone comes through the mist, holding a Buddhist staff and prayer beads.

At a little shop in the wilderness, a Buddhist cultivator sits with his eyes lowered and a look of compassion. He speaks slowly to his listeners: "Fifty years ago, I met an immortal. We traveled together across the land and guided lost souls to the afterlife. I didn't realize I had fallen for him. Confused, I left him behind, and broke his heart."

He takes out a painting. The young man depicted has exquisite features and a frail, sickly frame. Through the paper, he gazes at the man who has long since entered the mortal world.

"He taught me to recognize my true heart and understand what I desired. My feelings had already taken root, but I clung to my old ways and didn't dare look up at him."

"I sat in meditation for thirty years. At last, I understood that once my heart was moved, there could be no turning back."

"I have come to find him."
