[Love at First Sight / A Bittersweet First Love]
-
Dusk settled as cicadas sang through the lingering summer heat.
The little bar in the bustling city was packed and noisy. Onstage, a man gripped the standing microphone with one hand. The lean forearm hanging by his thigh was traced with prominent veins.
The moment he began to sing, the room fell silent, and everyone's eyes instinctively turned toward him.
Liang Tingyu was among them.
At the sound of his voice, her pen slowed. She suddenly lifted her head, her gaze settling on his tall, slender figure.
His black hair was parted slightly to one side, half his face hidden as he sang quietly with his eyes lowered.
"I miss you so much, I'm only enchanted by you. My empty memories suddenly fill with you."
His voice was warm and clear, with a faint rasp and the slightest hint of a sob. The high notes, sung in full voice, brought the song's bittersweet ache to its peak.
As he hit the high notes, a flush crept up his neck, and his veins stood out.
When Liang Tingyu's gaze fell on his neck, she instantly tightened her grip on the pen, its tip scrawling unruly lines across her tablet.
At that moment, she thought she might have fallen for him.

For three years, Tan Cheng had never sung in front of anyone.
The song he sang at his friend's bar was his way of drawing a final line under the past. He never expected anyone to add another stroke and turn it into a story left unfinished.
Later, a friend asked how they had met.
Tan Cheng chuckled. "Xiao Juan brought us together."
He lowered his eyes and reached down to stroke the little cat curled up on his lap. "We only met because it bit me back then."
For a long time, Tan Cheng thought the pet shop was where they had first met.
It wasn't until he saw the drawing Liang Tingyu posted that he realized he had missed that night at the bar, and the song he'd sung.
Later on,
Tan Cheng wrote a sweet love song called "That Second I Fell for You."
[Mini Scene]
Liang Tingyu used an a cappella recording of Tan Cheng's voice as the background music for her short comic.
It was an utterly ordinary post, but his voice caused quite a stir.
Although Tan Cheng's voice was no longer as clear as before after his throat injury, it was so distinctive that people recognized it in a second.
Countless fans who had gone quiet came flocking back.
They filled the comments with a spontaneous show of support, familiar fan chants, and shared memories.
