[Top-Tier Green Tea vs. A Girl With No Sense of Self-Preservation]
Cheng Jiayang is very interested in Xu Lizi. He plans to shoot his shot and get right to the point, but accidentally hears about Xu Lizi's glorious feat of brutally rejecting eight boys in a single day.
He loses his nerve and decides to try another approach.
Jiang Zeyi is a troublemaker, arrogant and domineering. He struts around school, and nobody dares mess with him. He also happens to be Xu Lizi's childhood friend, utterly obedient to her every command.
Cheng Jiayang smirks. On the way home from school, he "accidentally" hits Jiang Zeyi in the leg with a slingshot. Jiang Zeyi gives him a thorough beating and declares him his number-one enemy, taking a jab at him every time they meet from then on.
With no other choice, Cheng Jiayang seeks Xu Lizi's protection and promises to pay her a protection fee.
Xu Lizi thinks he's handsome, so she decides not to charge him.
After an unexpected car accident leaves Xu Lizi with a head injury, she suffers temporary amnesia.
This is a good opportunity. Cheng Jiayang stops pretending and lets his naturally lazy, roguish side show. He tells Xu Lizi, "I'm super awesome, and you really like me. You even said we'd both get into Rong University, and you'd be my girlfriend as soon as the college entrance exams were over."
Xu Lizi doubts what he's saying and asks, utterly confused, "Really?"
"Really." He lies without batting an eye.
Seeing the sincerity in his eyes, Xu Lizi decides to believe him.
Cheng Jiayang rubs her head and says affectionately, "Good girl."
The first thing Cheng Jiayang does after leaving the hospital is beat up Jiang Zeyi, getting revenge for the beating he once took.
Later, Jiang Zeyi gradually goes from insisting they settle things once and for all to being won over by Cheng Jiayang's charisma. The two become genuine bros.
After the college entrance exams are over, the results are out, and the university applications are in, Xu Lizi is walking down a street with the evening breeze on her face when she spots Jiang Zeyi and Cheng Jiayang up ahead, arms slung over each other's shoulders like brothers. Memories surge back like a tide.
In one of those memories, Cheng Jiayang is hiding behind her, pointing at Jiang Zeyi and saying, "He's so scary. I'm terrified."
