Shall We Divorce, Darling?

The once-popular actress Wen Zhaoyi finally landed a variety show gig: a divorce show. The catch was, she was single and had never dated.

Her agent said she'd already found her a partner. They'd get married first, then pretend their relationship had gone sour and that they were getting divorced.

Her agent added that two people who had nothing to do with each other somehow being married and then appearing on a divorce show was guaranteed to trend. It was free publicity, and they couldn't pass it up.

Wen Zhaoyi thought it sounded a little absurd, but her roles had been painfully scarce and her circumstances were dire, so she nodded and agreed.

Her "divorce partner" was Pei Lin, a supporting actor who had spent years in the industry without ever becoming particularly popular.

After going on the show, they naturally kept their distance and treated each other politely. Viewers speculated that the reason they were getting divorced had to be a lack of communication and too much time apart, but the truth was that the two of them had never been close in the first place.

The filming went fairly smoothly. The only surprise was that, for some reason, Pei Lin's side didn't follow the agreement to get divorced from Wen Zhaoyi after the show ended.

The day Wen Zhaoyi went to discuss it with Pei Lin, the usually gentle and polite man wore a stern expression and refused to agree to a divorce. When Wen Zhaoyi tried to leave, he grabbed her tightly and said, "Wen Zhaoyi, let's date."
