The Inescapable Cableway

While searching for the source of life deep in the mountains and forests of the apocalypse, Qian Momo found a note in her pocket. It told her that if she wanted to help humanity escape the apocalyptic world or change its conditions, she had to build a cableway suited to the times. The cableway would let people travel, but unlike any cableway on Earth, it would be full of dangers. The apocalypse was putting humanity to the test.

If humanity could succeed, the world would see the light again.

As an engineer, Qian Momo accepted the commission. But as she carried it out, her fellow humans distrusted her and reacted with alarm.

They believed she could never complete the task. On top of that, resources capable of sustaining human life on Earth were already terribly scarce. How could they let her use what little remained to build a cableway that might not even be able to change the apocalypse?

It was simply unheard of!

She made a bold decision. Trusting the last words her teacher had left behind, she secretly gathered all the manpower she could and began construction in a forest where the cableway could be built according to scientific principles. She promised the workers that this was a project they would never regret taking on.

But one day, someone who opposed her saw the construction site and summoned all the other opponents to where she was. They surrounded her, attacking her with deeply hostile words. The world spun around her, her ears rang, and she felt as if she were about to faint.

The cableway project became a half-finished ruin!

She really did faint. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a desolate desert. As she focused her gaze ahead, she saw a helicopter flying toward her. Watching its shadow draw closer and closer, she fainted again...

A fun little scene:

Qian Momo: Since this is Earth three hundred years in my future, I want to ask: was there anyone named Qian Momo in history three hundred years ago?

Rescuer: Yes!

Qian Momo: Could you tell me what ultimately happened to her?

The rescuer hesitated for a long while, neither agreeing nor refusing, and simply changed the subject, leaving her hanging.
