After a massive magnetic storm, senior Imperial commander Shi Jing was reborn at age sixteen.
It was the same year someone stole the only recommendation to military school available to her on Garbage Star.
Only after being reborn did she learn that she was an insignificant supporting character in a sweet romance novel.
Her true identity, however, was the real daughter of the Shi family of the Empire, switched at birth and killed by the villain at the very beginning of the story.
Shi Jing: Forget the Empire's military school recommendation. Maybe I should switch sides and find work in the neighboring Alliance instead.
So Shi Jing applied to the Alliance's First Military Academy.
The academy's Biological Mecha program was known for its high entry requirements, cutthroat competition, and absurdly high elimination rate.
It was now the second year in a row that the program had failed to recruit any new students, leaving it short-handed.
The other military academies were all waiting to laugh at it.
But that country bumpkin from Garbage Star, whom they had turned away,
not only passed the most brutal entrance exam, but rose to become the top student in the Biological Mecha program,
and had her own students crying for their mothers at the inter-academy tournament.
The other military academies: Hey, maybe you'd consider transferring?
The most common description of Shi Jing by her former Imperial colleagues was: Commander Shi is exceptionally strong, but unfortunately can't pilot a mecha.
This time, the best biological mechas in the entire Alliance were all at Shi Jing's disposal,
for her to use however she pleased, making everyone else green with envy.
She was the Alliance's Morning Star.
On the perilous interstellar battlefield, mecha pilots from both the Empire and the Alliance knew that General Lin Hao was a singular figure.
He and his mecha were reckless and arrogant on the battlefield, and he had once gravely wounded the Zerg Queen from a thousand miles away.
He was dangerous and defiant. People admired and loved him, but also feared and kept their distance from him.
And it was this very man who shielded Shi Jing with his own body at a life-or-death moment during a mission, shadows deep in his eyes.
"Have you discovered the truth of the world too, Miss Morning Star?"
Theme: Never lose hope for the future, no matter what.
