This is a story about seeking and protecting the companionship we share: Mushishi Ginko, his ever-present friend Chiri, and the journey they travel together.
This is a new story from an author whose head is full of gentle, healing vibes. The subject matter is a little niche, but I hope readers will enjoy it. You don't have to have read the original, either. Actually, I hope you'll go read it after finishing my story. That would be a true honor.
Long ago, there lived a group of strange, primitive creatures, utterly unlike the plants and animals we commonly know. People have revered these enigmatic beings since ancient times, and at some point they came to be known as "mushi."
And so the ancient, mysterious profession of mushishi came into being.
Mushishi Ginko sets out on a fantastical journey with his companion Chiri, witnessing one tale after another of joy and sorrow, partings and death. Along the way, Chiri searches for the truth of her origins and the bonds that tie her to others.
Bound together through life and death, they care for each other in their own awkward way. She doesn't know what she feels for the man at her side.
Eternity alone is a terrifying and despairing thing. But what about eternity shared by two people?
I don't know what kind of story I'll manage to tell this time. I only hope it can move you.
!! I haven't given up on this story. I really, really love stories like this, and I'll keep writing no matter how long it takes. I'm sorry to everyone who's been following it. Updates really will be very slow. It's probably best read when you need a little healing. It's gentle, not intense, and it may even turn out differently from my outline as I've grown over the past few years. I'll be adding more to it, both warmth and the bittersweet happiness of sorrow. This is a crucial year in my life, especially the second half. I don't know which direction my path will take, but I hope that when I return next year, I'll be in a very different state of mind.
In real life, I'm not good with words. I'm always a bit clumsy and don't know how to speak up. I can see a lot clearly, but I can't be as tactful and at ease as other people. Sometimes I feel like an invisible person. But I don't dwell on it or feel sad about it anymore, because maybe it's just the way I'm made. There are always plenty of people who care about you and move you.
We come into this world, love, hurt, cry, and laugh. We give thanks and grow. We are wounded and hurt, yet still must keep moving forward without looking back. I think that's life. Without realizing it, I've woven so many things I've encountered and experienced into this story. I only hope that you, on the other side, can hear it too. Maybe this is a cry from the heart of life. (Added in October 2013. Thank you all for your encouragement and for loving this story.)

Comment section from ten years ago?! Time flies so fast (x_x;)
The 12-year-old article is now 23 years old, and it has been 11 years... Doesn't the author, the teacher, plan to update it?
It's so well written in the style of a insect master, so awesome
Forgive me for only now knowing this heartwarming anime "Mushishi"! Forgive me for only now reading the fanfic of "Mushishi" [crying -! ] I regret not coming sooner!
So cute hahahahaha! What does dust look like? Is it a cat?? It has claws and ears, and it was said earlier that it looks very cute. Could it be that kind of Q version of demonization? This article was written many years ago, so it's not easy to write so many articles... Is Chen Chen a man? I was a bit confused when I saw their interaction was so exciting. The author marked it as romance.
The article was written in 2012. At that time, the insect master was very unpopular, so it was really difficult to have the motivation to write a chapter with so many words with so few comments. It's not surprising that it got screwed. It's really hard work!!
Then you gave up on writing...
Yes, but no, you abandoned the article.
Come on o(∩_∩)o Come on!
It's great, I like Mushishi very much, cheers up.
