Hard to Resist [Thirst Syndrome]

Bai Ruotang often feels terribly guilty toward her devoted boyfriend, who treats her like a princess.

Wu Xun is gentle, considerate, and knows exactly where to draw the line. After three months together, all they've done is hold hands. He's the best guy she's ever met.

She's the one at fault.

She has a condition she can barely bring herself to talk about.

Severe skin hunger. When it flares up, her whole body itches, leaving her in agony.

Luckily, she's always managed to hide it from her boyfriend.

Until the day she meets his parents. Her boyfriend sits beside her, thoughtfully putting food on her plate. Everyone praises their fairytale romance and jokes that Bai Ruotang is so shy her cheeks are flushed and her legs are trembling.

Only her awful childhood friend doesn't join in.

Wen Xiaoyuan leans casually against the sink, where only she can see him, smiling as he slowly pulls a strip of silk from his pocket.

It's the one she changed into today, and it's already been soaked through three times.

Just then, a new message pops up on her phone, making Bai Ruotang shiver all over.

[Why are you panicking? You ran off without even taking your stuff.]

Bai Ruotang can't quite figure out how things got to this point.

Maybe it was that family gathering. She'd been feeling uncomfortable on and off for a whole week, and was leaning dazedly against the back of her chair while the family chatted and the elders raised their glasses. Then she suddenly felt something cool beneath her.

Something had slipped beneath the tablecloth that was wrapped tightly around the table.

It felt like...

The itching had stopped.
