Mistakenly Betrayed the Emperor

As an unloved princess, Song Zhuyue was destined to be sent away for a political marriage.

On the day she left her homeland, she looked at her tearful younger sister, the city gates fading into the distance, and the tall, heroic figure at the head of the procession.

Song Zhuyue thought, Surely life from now on couldn't be any harder than it had been in the Southern Kingdom.

After entering the palace, a maid specially warned Song Zhuyue that in this vast palace, if she wanted to stay alive, she had to be cautious and, above all, beware of the Left Chancellor, Jiang Zhao.

Jiang Zhao, the Left Chancellor, was The Outcast, second only to the emperor and above all others. He was sinister and cunning, cold-faced and black-hearted.

Remembering that tall, heroic figure, Song Zhuyue took the warning to heart and went out of her way to avoid him whenever she could.

On the night she was due to attend the emperor, the empress fell ill with a fever. Song Zhuyue had just been taken to the emperor's chambers when she was sent back.

Song Zhuyue breathed a sigh of relief, thinking she had escaped her fate.

Who could have guessed that someone had appeared in her room without her noticing...

The Left Chancellor was sitting on her daybed, idly twirling the bed curtains with an amused look. “I hear His Majesty is gravely ill. Does that mean Her Highness won't be attending the emperor tonight?”

Song Zhuyue replied respectfully, “Yes.”

Jiang Zhao beckoned her over. “Then I hope Her Highness will do me the honor of attending to me tonight.”

Song Zhuyue: ???
