A Tyrant Emperor's Guide to Raising Mushrooms

Lin Ling is a little mushroom spirit growing on a beam in the Imperial Study. Every day, he watches the tyrant go about his business:

confiscating estates, exiling people, and executing entire clans.

The little mushroom has no particular opinion about this, except that his flowerpot, where he likes to bask in the moonlight, always gets caught in the crossfire. It gets sent crashing to the floor along with the memorials.

So he complains about it in the tyrant’s dreams every day, and the tyrant gives him a new flowerpot.

Lin Ling is up on the beam, gazing at his brand-new flowerpot and happily imagining himself living in it, when someone makes the tyrant angry again.

The tyrant raises a hand, and Lin Ling immediately reminds him in a nervous little voice, “When you get mad and start smashing things later, please make sure you don’t throw my new flowerpot again.”

The room falls utterly silent. In full view of everyone, the tyrant turns around and moves the flowerpot somewhere safer first.

The ministers, trembling with fear and hardly daring to look, only realize belatedly that their decisive, bloodthirsty emperor is learning how to care for a soft, tiny mushroom.

P.S. The dynasty is fictional, and the language is fairly modern. This is a sweet little bedtime story, perfect for lulling you to sleep. Reading it with your brain switched on might keep you awake OvO

"I’m a Desktop Pet, Not a Virus!"

Shi Changyuan is a recently retired esports champion, famous for being old-fashioned and boring. But lately, netizens have noticed that something seems off about him

The default wallpaper he’s used for eight years has suddenly sprouted pink bubbles. He’s signed up for a bunch of dress-up games, and there’s even a chibi lop-eared bunny on his livestream that keeps popping up hearts.

Netizens suspect he’s either fallen in love or been possessed.

Shi Changyuan’s explanation: His computer has a virus.

Lin Ling is a little desktop pet sprite who lives on his new owner’s computer. On his first day, he deletes the intrusive antivirus software four times and is left panting with exhaustion, only to realize his owner did it on purpose.

Furious, Lin Ling drags a “bad” character out of a file and puts it in a speech bubble to call his owner out!

Shi Changyuan watches the little sprite spam “bad” every time he clicks on him, while the screen is about to be flooded with digital tears. After a moment of silence, he picks up the heartbroken sprite and places him on the top bar of the desktop, then opens a search engine
