Lin Yu is a fish with a seven-second memory who ends up inside a Mary Sue cultivation novel, as a villainous cannon fodder character whom readers love to hate.

In the original story, the protagonist shou, Jiang Lanxi, is a poor merman who gets bullied. Because his bloodline is impure, his food is often withheld, and beatings are part of everyday life.

Later, during the Immortal Sect Tournament, he is deliberately targeted. Even after getting hurt while protecting others, he is left on the brink of death.

He only barely survives thanks to the protagonist's powerful plot armor.

In the end, protagonist shou Jiang Lanxi falls to darkness and becomes the Demon Lord, crushing beneath his feet every self-righteous Daoist cultivator who once bullied him.

Meanwhile, Lin Yu is transmigrated as the senior disciple who smiles to everyone's face, then kicks Jiang Lanxi when his back is turned.

The first unlucky fool to be killed by the protagonist shou himself.

On the first day, Lin Yu had his entire fish body buried in the mud, his tail fin happily splashing water.

Then he was bundled up and taken away, placed in a fish tank in protagonist shou Jiang Lanxi's room.

The next morning, he waited until Jiang Lanxi had gone to practice before turning back into a human. He nervously kept his secret identity under wraps, terrified that he'd slip up.

On the third night, protagonist shou Jiang Lanxi stared at Lin Yu swimming around in the fish tank, his dark eyes unreadable. "Little fish, could it be that you've gained sentience?"

On the seventh day, he saw protagonist shou Jiang Lanxi holding a kitchen knife, apparently planning to roast him and eat him. Lin Yu hurriedly begged for mercy: "I... I'm a carp spirit. I can warm your bed, and I'm a really good eater."

In less than a month, Lin Yu's identity as a senior disciple was discovered.

By the moonlit lake, protagonist shou Jiang Lanxi, his bare chest exposed, wrapped his tail tightly around Lin Yu. "Humans are all lying cheats. They'll be punished, you know~"

That night ended in a scene of passion.

After that, Lin Yu vanished without a trace. Jiang Lanxi searched for him like a madman, and in doing so, became possessed by a heart demon.

Ten years later, Lin Yu took two identical little ones to a bustling street market and bought them two skewers of candied hawthorn.

After receiving word of it, protagonist shou Jiang Lanxi confronted him with red-rimmed eyes.

But Lin Yu's reply was astonishing: "You're that scumbag who slept with a fish and then refused to take responsibility?!"

A note for readers:

The shou can give birth. The true reason behind the amnesia will be explained later. The early chapters focus entirely on the romance.

The original story's shou becomes the gong.

Theme: Though my memory lasts only seven seconds, you are forever buried deep within it.
