Female lead's story:
Li Yue had a dream. In it, she traveled a thousand miles to marry Shen Yu, the son of her father's old friend.
An eight-man sedan chair carried her, and a procession of wedding gifts stretched for ten miles. She was overjoyed. Then the scene suddenly changed. She saw herself lying on the ground in a dilapidated courtyard, barely breathing, tears streaming down her face.
A young woman stood beside her: her cousin, who had looked after her so attentively when she first arrived in the capital. Her husband stood outside the door, impatiently urging her cousin to send her "on her way."
"The Li family really is rich enough to rival a nation. What a shame, even that couldn't stop the cavalry of the Prince of Huaibei. Heh heh... Not one of your Li family survived."
"Cousin, living is painful too. Why don't I send you off myself?"
And so Li Yue watched helplessly as the woman in her dream was strangled and hung from a roof beam, her face deathly pale...
Male lead's story:
When Jiang Yun was eighteen, he was attacked during a trip south and rescued by a young woman, who took him to Puan Temple. Unconscious and unaware of what he was doing, he pulled off the jade pendant she wore. The character "Yue" was engraved on it.
Three years later, they met in the capital. She was already married.
Later, Jiang Yun's revenge plan fell one step short, and on the eve of his defeat, he received news of her death. He met a miserable end too.
Pain tore through him, and he jerked his eyes open. The scene before him was both familiar and strange. He was at the very place where, at eighteen, he'd been attacked, rescued, and first met Li Yue.
Since everything could begin again, he'd turn that ending completely upside down and take back, bit by bit, what belonged to him.
But the young woman in this life seems to hate him.
