Xiahou Wangqing's first assignment after starting her job was a business trip to Sweden.
Because of a problem with the air conditioning in her room, the hotel upgraded her room. Even luckier, when she went out to get a meal, she happened to meet the figure skater Yusheng Jiexian, who was staying across the hall.
He kindly gave her strawberries and treated her like a friend.
He even registered for the international version of WeChat just so it would be easier to contact her.
Xiahou Wangqing says: I didn't want to fall for him, but he called me Qingqing!
Xiahou Wangqing thought every encounter with Yusheng Jiexian was a coincidence, never realizing that he had noticed her long ago.
After Xiahou Wangqing caught Yusheng Jiexian's attention with a photo of dumplings she posted to her Moments...
He showed her that he was eating dumplings too.
Worried about whether he was feeling any better, Xiahou Wangqing suggested a video call to see what the dumplings looked like.
Dumplings all look pretty much the same, don't they?
She was just making an excuse.
When the call connected, Yusheng Jiexian's face appeared first. After Xiahou Wangqing adjusted the angle of her camera, Yusheng didn't hurry to show her the dumplings. Instead, he pointed the camera at the person sitting beside him.
Xiahou Wangqing never imagined she would meet one of Yusheng's family members like this.
She jumped in fright and hung up immediately.
Given their relationship, wasn't meeting the family a little too soon?
If she'd known they were eating together, she wouldn't have made the video call. And if she'd known she was going to call, she should have asked Xiao Xiao to do her makeup and brighten up her complexion.
After regretting it for a while, she finally realized that what she'd done was rather rude.
She hurriedly sent a voice message to apologize and explain how excited she'd been.
It wasn't just one of Yusheng's family members sitting with him. His whole family was there, eating together!
Content warning: This is a Yuzu fanfic. My writing skills are limited, so the characters will probably be out of character.
I changed Yuzu's name because of fanfiction copyright issues.
Like Xiahou Wangqing, I started out knowing nothing about figure skating and learned about it along the way.

Cheng Shiyan, hailed as a figure skating prodigy, appeared in the final news article about him as a young man of twenty who had gone drinking with friends late at night, suffered alcohol poisoning, and died because he hadn't received treatment in time.
Until the day he died, Cheng Shiyan never imagined that his first attempt to drown his sorrows in alcohol would end in his death.
After retiring from the national team, he drifted through life in a daze. Unable to find a suitable job, he didn't want to go outside either.
He did nothing but sleep and play video games. His girlfriend thought he was going nowhere and wanted to break up with him.
He had gone from a rising figure skating star to an unemployed drifter. His laziness and lie-flat attitude had led him to such a tragic end.
Everyone who knew him felt it was a terrible shame. His life was a modern-day tale of Zhong Yong, a gifted child whose talent faded away.
When Cheng Shiyan woke again, he was dozing in the spectator stands at the national team's training rink.
Time had suddenly turned back two years. He had returned to the age of eighteen.
The Wanping Winter Olympics would open in two months.
After confirming with a friend that the date was right and that he still had a chance to compete in the Olympics, Cheng Shiyan changed his lazy ways, turned over a new leaf, and resolved to earn himself a chance to compete.
At the Wanping Winter Olympics, he delivered a stable, high-level performance. His total score held firmly in first place, and he successfully won the Olympic gold medal in figure skating.
After winning, sports reporters hailed him as the country's most promising figure skating star, a once-in-a-century prodigy.
He was suddenly at the height of his fame. Numerous media outlets arranged interviews, and he became a household-name sports star overnight.
He was even offered a place at Pingcheng Sports University without having to take the entrance exam.
Even his former girlfriend, who had once thought he was going nowhere, reached out and asked to get back together.
But by then, his heart already belonged to someone who had stayed by his side through his darkest days.
Cheng Shiyan took the initiative and confessed his feelings to Xu Shaoyin. "I'm sorry. I don't think we're right for each other after all. I've already fallen for someone."
"You? In love with someone? You're at the rink all day. Who could you possibly meet? You didn't even have time to go to the movies with me before. Do you have time to spend with another girl now?"
"Maybe she's the busy one this time. I'm afraid she doesn't have time for me."
Cheng Shiyan was a rising star in the sports world, and the person he loved shone even brighter than he did.
