From the Female Lead's Foil to Short Track Speed Skating Champion [Winter Olympics]

Ideals come before everything, and faith is unshakable.

After being reborn, Yan Ci discovers that she's the foil to the heroine of a sports novel.

In other words, the stronger the heroine is, the worse things go for her.

The heroine is a short-track speed skating prodigy, while Yan Ci is the hardworking type.

In every speed skating competition where the heroine competes, Yan Ci can only ever place second.

She can't compete in her career, and her love life is full of setbacks too. Every guy she likes always has a crush on the heroine.

Even her teammates' favorite person is always the heroine. The heroine has a textbook Mary Sue storyline.

In the end, the heroine wins Olympic gold, becomes a national icon, and marries the equally successful male lead.

Meanwhile, Yan Ci is stuck with the title of perennial runner-up. Only after the heroine retires does she finally win first place. But after receiving her award, she dies in a car crash on the way home, alone.

After being reborn and becoming aware of her situation, Yan Ci vows never to compare herself with the heroine again. What does she care about championships or being number one? What's wrong with coming in second? She can still stand on the podium and receive an award.

But just as she starts thinking about taking it easy, a voice suddenly pops into her head: "If you lose your fighting spirit and can no longer compete with the heroine, you will have no reason to exist, and you will die."

Yan Ci is speechless. What does that even mean? I can't just live a simple life?

So I have to follow the original plot and obediently be the heroine's foil, watching her excel?

The voice in her head continues: [You must also win three Olympic gold medals to break free from the ending written for you.]

"Three Olympic gold medals? That's twelve years at the very least. Why not demand ten? Or just have me compete every time until I die? No retiring until I'm dead."

[That's not a bad suggestion. I'll keep it in mind. But a reminder: in the original novel, you die at twenty-eight.]

[So you'd better start working hard now. By the time you're twenty-eight, you can have won three consecutive Olympic gold medals. Otherwise, twenty-eight will still be your date of death.]

Honestly, Yan Ci did manage not to die or retire in her previous life.

It's clearly impossible for her to win every single Winter Olympics.

But surely nothing is worse than dying all over again, right?

Maybe she should at least give it a try?

Just as Yan Ci is forced to keep pushing herself alongside the heroine to save her own life, she suddenly gets unbelievably lucky and takes first place in a competition the heroine enters.

Afterward, she even gets flowers from a big shot, the heroine's unrequited love.

Yan Ci: "Sorry to interrupt, but I don't think we know each other."

Big Shot: "Just because we don't know each other now doesn't mean we won't in the future. Just because you don't know much about me doesn't mean I don't know you. Yan Ci, congratulations. I'm looking forward to your next win."

Yan Ci's inner thoughts: Could he be a fan of my career? I only won once by sheer luck, and he's already looking forward to me beating the heroine again.
