--At the end of an unhealthy relationship, Shao Chi met Sheng Lianjing, who rescued him from the mire.
Sheng Lianjing was tall and long-legged, with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a handsome, sharp-featured face. His eyes, however, were round and doglike. He could crouch in front of Shao Chi, who sat with his head bowed on a bench, shrinking his nearly six-foot-four frame until he was a small ball no taller than Boss Shao's shoulders. Smiling, he would coax the unhappy man: "Boss Shao, would you consider giving me a chance?"
Shao Chi said, "Sure."
