The Aloof Top Student Is a Socially Anxious Little Stutterer

Everyone says Chu Ge is a cool, aloof top student, but only Chu Ge knows the truth: he has social anxiety and a stutter.

After the new semester reshuffles the classes, he becomes desk mates with Shen Ke, the school bully.

Shen Ke is handsome and roguish. He has a terrible temper and hates being touched, even by his close friends.

Chu Ge once saw Shen Ke fly into a rage because someone had put a hand on his shoulder.

Afraid of setting Shen Ke off, Chu Ge tries to keep as much distance between them as possible in class, until he accidentally falls into Shen Ke's arms.

With his cheek against Shen Ke's chest, Chu Ge feels his heartbeat growing faster, and knows he's on the verge of exploding.

Chu Ge quickly straightens up and apologizes. “S-sorry...”

He expects Shen Ke to give him an earful, but instead gets a gentle question.

Shen Ke: “Did you hurt yourself?”

Whenever Shen Ke climbs over the school wall, he sees his new desk mate quietly practicing speaking in the little woods. Huddled in a corner, Chu Ge reminds him of the soft, cuddly little parrot at home.

What Shen Ke doesn't understand is why his new desk mate seems so afraid of him. Chu Ge sits far away in class, and tenses up whenever anything happens, leaving Shen Ke at a loss about what to do.

Until one day, when Chu Ge finishes practicing and their eyes meet by chance.

Shen Ke jumps down from the wall. “Who do you want to be friends with? Me?”

Chu Ge stammers, his face turning red. “I-I... you...”

Before he can finish, Shen Ke lowers his head and laughs. “Sure.”
