The following year, she met Jia Xiao, an elder of Medicine King Valley. Jia Xiao claimed to have been her cultivation partner in a previous life.

She had never believed in past lives, and because of Ai Qian, she no longer believed in the "love" people so readily professed.

But Jia Xiao seemed to make no demands. He simply gave Hua Xi everything he could. Her time with him was peaceful and reassuring.

In the fifth year after escaping her cage, Ai Qian imprisoned Hua Xi again, then destroyed her completely.

[Notes at the end] 1. This is a short story set during the seventh playthrough of the game. The three protagonists take turns telling the story, which progresses chronologically. The three perspectives carry the plot forward from one to the next. This is my first time telling a story this way, so think of it as practice.

2. This came after I read a third of The Art of Love. The theory itself was pretty dry, but when I thought of these three characters, I realized it fit the book's ideas remarkably well, so I decided to write this story.

3. The final pairing is Hua Xi X Jia Xiao. In a sense, it's a happy ending.

4. Readers who insist on chaste characters should probably not click. Let's all be happy.
