Sorry, everyone. I wrote this blurb after getting tilted while playing a game, then forgot all about it when I started writing the story and setting. As a result, parts of the blurb don't match the actual story.
Just consider the blurb to describe the female lead's public persona. You can skip straight to [A Note from the Back Row] to read my note.
To keep anyone from getting angry because they were misled by the protagonist, I added an explanation. Once the story is complete, I'll revise it to make the logic more consistent.
[Blurb] At the age of twenty, Lu Xuerong met with an accident and arrived in an unfamiliar dynasty. She was born into an official's household as a concubine-born daughter.
She made it safely to the age of fifteen, then her family sent her to the palace to be considered as a potential consort. The only reason they chose her was to help another relative in the palace, Consort Xian Lu Qianhan.
Written as "helper," read as "pawn."
Her concubine-born mother had taught her from childhood that as a daughter born to a concubine, she shouldn't try to stand out. All the glory belonged to the legitimate sons and daughters.
The palace-intrigue novels and dramas she'd seen in her previous life had taught her not to take on a task beyond her abilities, and to know her own limits.
So she happily decided to lie flat and be a lazy nobody. As long as she was ordinary enough, no one would cause trouble for her.
Where there are people, there are conflicts, and the harem is a place full of women. Just because she didn't go looking for trouble didn't mean trouble wouldn't come looking for her.
The first time her heart stirred was when she saw the passionate heart beneath the emperor's cold exterior.
The first time she was disappointed was when the emperor, her own husband, failed to punish the concubine who had tried to take her life.
From the lazy girl who once avoided competing for anything to the Consort who now stops at nothing, she has lost far too much.
[A Note from the Back Row] 1. This is fanfiction based on the game Deep Palace Song. It follows Shen Ronger, the protagonist of the Scroll Bearer route, though I've changed the protagonist's name.
2. The family-bond plotline and some of the romance plotlines were inspired by the song "Horse" by Fu Lu Shou.
3. The female lead isn't perfect. She has all the flaws an ordinary person might have, and she's even morally questionable, ruthless, and cruel. A character's values do not represent the author's.
4. Rong Yu and Tao Ning appear, but not Chu Huan, because I cut off her path to the palace before she could enter. The Empress Dowager dies fairly early, and the emperor has a cold personality. Rong Yu's background and such might be covered in a character extra.
5. The story reaches the natural-death ending.
6. First-person narration, with some original elements. The wording may feel rather modern at first, but it changes later along with the characters' personalities and state of mind. Read at your own risk if that's not your thing. Because it's in first person, the protagonist sometimes conceals things, but everything she tells you is true. You could call it an immature unreliable-narrator trick.
7. The main story won't include the inner thoughts of anyone but the female lead, except in character extras.
8. This medium-length story is complete. Feel free to read it.
Theme: My white horse, slow down and run. This time, there's no me to take you home.
Just like what the Black-bellied Emperor said, "The emperor really wants nothing more." Being tempted by the emperor will only harm yourself. In some games, I was a little sincere towards Gouzi, but in the later stages of the game I was only disappointed. However, after I went through the Xirui plot completely, I felt a lot more relieved. When Xirui was out of favor, she performed in the banquet and stole the show. Later, when she fell out of favor again, the emperor would even tell the controller that he felt like she was like a piece of wood. When you dote on her, you remember how she dyed her hair. When you don't dote on her, you think she's just a piece of wood. Hehe, she's just a big pig's hooves without a heart.
Really, it's so amazing. I cried when I read this novel. The seemingly ordinary story line is indeed mixed with a touch of sadness. It's very good?
I feel the same way. I raised a concubine princess whose talent and appearance were not highly valued. When she was fourteen years old, I suddenly discovered that her importance could be used to arbitrarily marry her. After that, I started feeding her peaches, praising and encouraging her, but her mother-in-law always made trouble and changed her education methods. Just when she was about to become a genius, the emperor suddenly married her. I was almost in tears.
I feel that the punishment given by this emperor is still too light. Some of my masters were demoted to the throne by the main concubine of the East Palace, and the emperor directly threw him into the cold palace (even the master of one position was not favored when he was poisoned). Here, he was demoted one level without any pain. The heroine must not be able to bear it.
I've finished reading it, oh, it's sad, but it's well written!
Hey, my wife and I have quite the same game lists.
No, she will, my Hao Ning Ning, there is only me and her and another concubine, she will not frame me even if she is poisonous.
Because Rong Yu came to find the article, and the writing is really beautiful.
I killed Chu Huan accurately every time, and he was poisoned to death within a few steps.
When my branches poisoned me, I became stupid
