After transmigrating, Sang Sang met Yun Ji. The boy had horns on his head, a black beast's tail hanging behind him, and scales covering his body. He was a young half-demon.
The young half-demon had red hair and dark eyes. He was gloomy, cold, and wary of others.
But he saved his food for Sang Sang, climbed cliffs to gather herbs for her, combed her hair and told her stories, and even gave her his most precious and beautiful scale to use as a medicinal ingredient.
So Sang Sang cherished him.
Sang Sang accompanied the young half-demon as he joined an immortal sect, was expelled from it, and hunted by the righteous factions. She stayed by his side through every day and night of a hundred years.
Sang Sang watched the young half-demon grow into a fierce, proud great demon, then into a handsome young man, and finally into a demon lord.
She fell in love with him, believing that even if time passed her by, she could wait for him.

That day, as Sang Sang fought the leader of the immortal sect, news came from behind her that the great demon Yun Ji had proposed to the sect's immortal maiden, Wu Lan.
Sang Sang froze. Then a sword pierced her chest.
Only then did she realize she was in a harem novel where readers could bet on their favorite love interest. The young half-demon was one of the male lead candidates.
In the book, for hundreds of years, the beautiful, powerful, tragic young half-demon had eyes only for his senior sister, Wu Lan.
Even after being expelled from the sect and finding himself in the filthy demon realm, his heart still belonged to the noble immortal maiden, Wu Lan.
Only in front of the heroine, Wu Lan,
did the obsessive, cold-hearted great demon of Jishan show any sign of unease.
And in his eyes, Sang Sang was no different from an ordinary person.
Sang Sang didn't resent the young half-demon. She was just embarrassed.
For hundreds of years, she'd imagined herself as the young half-demon's beloved... and gone around claiming the title of his great demon wife's name...

Before she could berate herself for falling in love, Sang Sang died. By an unexpected twist, a hundred years later she was reborn as a half-demon.
With her old dreams left behind, Sang Sang met Yun Ji again.
This old friend had snow-white hair, brows and eyes sharp as snow and frost, and empty, mist-white pupils. He looked at her strangely.
Remembering how foolish she'd been, Sang Sang gave an awkward smile. "I remember you. You're the young half-demon Yun Ji. By the way, did you marry your senior sister?"
[Happy ending, same male lead]
The trope is old-fashioned. I haven't written it yet, so I don't know how it'll turn out.
Inspired by all those female side characters who linger around the Demon Lord.
Both the male and female leads suffer. There are quite a few male leads. Half-demons have a flaw. The male lead is pure.
