"Jiang Shu, let's be partners in crime."
When Chi Nian wakes up, he's inside a badly written novel he read a year ago.
It's been so long that he only remembers a villain who combines beauty, strength, and tragedy, and whose popularity once surpassed the protagonist's.
The first time Chi Nian saw him in the book, he thought: Wow, he's so handsome. Why isn't someone this handsome the protagonist?
Unfortunately, the original author was obsessed with the protagonist, wholeheartedly devoted to him, and quit updating after realizing they couldn't handle writing this villain.
A year later, after being cursed out for ages, the author finally returned to fill in the plot, only to make the villain inexplicably stupid and rush him offstage.
Then Chi Nian transmigrated into the story.
There are two things Chi Nian remembers clearly about this book:
1. He likes the villain.
2. There's a character in it who shares his name.
Now he gets it.
So he's the lovable and dazzling villain!

In the original story, Chi Nian's older brother is a doting brother-con. But to Chi Nian, he's the fake young master he hates most, the one who bullies the villain.
His big brother dotes on him, protects him, and gives him presents.
Chi Nian: Hah! He's just trying to lower my guard. There's definitely a scheme behind it.
His big brother looks at Chi Nian's fierce, kittenish glare: ...Could that ball the other day have knocked the kid silly? Oh, well. He's my foolish little brother. If I don't dote on him, who will?
At a party, the original story's male lead and love interest reach a turning point in their relationship.
Chi Nian: It's my turn to take the stage as the villain!
He trips them up and sabotages things, making a flurry of moves that looks impressive but ends up making him seem like an idiot.
His big brother tugs Chi Nian behind him by the sleeve. "That's my brother. He's got something wrong with his head. Please forgive him."
Chi Nian: ! Show the villain a little respect, would you?
Later, Chi Nian meets someone who claims he can help, whispers in his ear, and sets him up for success.
Chi Nian: Wow, he's so handsome. Why isn't someone this handsome the protagonist?
Huh? Why does that sound familiar?
Never mind. He's so handsome, he can't be a bad guy. I'll listen to him.

In his previous life, Jiang Shu struggled through the mud for years, never coveting anything that wasn't his.
Yet for no reason, everyone was constantly on guard against him and picked on him at every turn, until he lost everything.
After living again, he decides to hide his sharp edges, take back what's his, and trample everyone who hurt him beneath his feet.
But then a character who had been insignificant in his previous life suddenly appears. He acts strangely and inexplicably, almost as if... he's doing the things Jiang Shu himself did in his past life.
At first, Jiang Shu thinks he's found someone like himself, so he approaches and uses him.
Later, Jiang Shu realizes this foolish man, who pretends to hide his fangs, is the only person in the world who understands him.
At last, he can't resist pinning the fool against the wall.
Chi Nian trembles. "Y-you can't come any closer! I'm a villain!"
-
With everyone else, Jiang Shu is polite and restrained, but never lets an insult go unpunished.
With Chi Nian, he's sharp-tongued, malicious, shameless, and petty.
Chi Nian is indignant. "Jiang Shu, why are you always kind to everyone else but so awful to me?"
Jiang Shu runs his fingers over the corner of Chi Nian's lip, which he has bitten until it broke, and laughs mockingly. "Because you're the only one who knows I'm the villain, aren't you?"
