The Male Lead's Frail Arch-Nemesis Keeps Failing to Fake His Death

(Title and blurb are tentative)

The Overworked Sea Otter 1

Jian Li is a sea otter at an aquarium. Every day, all he wants is to be adopted so he won't have to work so hard. But in the end, he dies suddenly on the job. After his death, he gets bound to a System, which requires him to travel to different small worlds and play the male lead's sickly nemesis, tripping him up so that the male lead can defeat him and complete the mission.

But can someone tell him why he keeps failing to fake his death, even though he's supposedly on the verge of death?
