During her month-long internship at a boutique law firm in S City, one of the things Huang He feared most was calling various institutions. Whenever she encountered an unfriendly court employee, she would hang up drenched in sweat, earnestly praying there wouldn't be a next time.

And yet one day, this woman with a severe fear of phone calls somehow called a landline at the S City B District Archives three times. When the other party picked up on her third try, he answered before she could repeat the same question she'd asked the first two times. "Looking up property ownership again? Bring a court investigation order, a copy of your lawyer's license, and a letter of introduction."

Again? Huang He froze. Had he figured her out? Did he think she was deliberately messing with him? Like any culprit caught red-handed, Huang He felt her face heat up. Just as she was about to hang up, her cheeks burning with embarrassment, the voice on the other end spoke. She had heard it three times today, and it still made her heart flutter, even if all he said was a string of numbers.

"This is my cell phone number," he said.

H-his phone number? At that moment, Huang He's heart beat faster than ever before. Was it what she thought it was? No, she didn't dare entertain any improper thoughts. But his voice was so clear, clear enough that no other proof was needed to believe him when he said:

"If there's anything else you want to ask, you can call this number."

"Counselor."
